Actually, if you read the latest Supreme Court decision regarding abortion (Gonzales v. Carhart), that was exactly Kennedy's claim: Women don't understand what they're doing and cannot be trusted to make the decision.
The entire point behind the various laws requiring a sonogram before an abortion are based upon the idea that women don't know what they're doing..."If they could only see their baby, they wouldn't want to kill it."
