Psalma 19,
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether.
The ultimate goal during our days of time is for the Lord to write His law upon our hearts through the new birth (Eze 36:26-27, John 3:3-7). In eternity when the Lord gives us our resurrection bodies, we will leave behind all our imprefections and enjoy Him forever.
Blessings

Re: Topic Please
Maybe you just don't get it?
Since God's laws are perfect, His laws are still valid, no matter whether they are old or new?
Now do you get it?

Re: Topic Please
Maybe you should start with this one and work your way into the others.
Deut 6:5 "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might."
Then you should be able to handle this one:
Col 2:16-17 "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ."
To whom much is given, much is required. God required much more from His people in the OT in regards to honoring the Sabbath day. The Israelites themselves agreed to these commandments from God and vowed to keep them. God still takes it very seriously when we make vows to God and agree to obey His commandments. It's much better to allow God to write His laws on our hearts so that we do His will by nature rather than by duty.

Re: Topic Please
Maybe if you were "born again" as Jesus declared in John 3:3-7, you would know what it means to allow God to write His laws upon your heart (Heb 8:10 buzz phrase).
"FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE."
As for God's law being perfect, these are God's words, not mine (Psalms 19:7).

Re: Still just platitudes
If you are "born again" as Jesus declares in John 3:3-7, you would not be offended that I brought up the subject. Since you seem to be offended, the shoe seems to fit.
You are right. Christianity is not the Bible, but it is Christ living within the lives of His "born again" children - "Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Col 1:27).
Christianity is action, doing. Let us walk in the good works God has prepared for us.
Eph 2:8-10 "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."

Re: Still just platitudes
Yes, some at this web site do not have a clue what the Christian life is all about.
Try these platitudes,
Phil 2:12-13 "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure."
If one does not know what it means to be "born again" as Jesus declared in John 3:3-7, then he cannot see the kingdom of God, let alone enter into the kingdom of God.
I'm sure these are just more platitudes as well.

Re: Still just platitudes
All of the OT, including the laws, were given by God to lead us to eternal life that's in Jesus Christ. The Lord said it best in John 5:39-40,
"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have eternal life."
Your salvation is determined by your acceptance or rejection of the blood of Jesus covering your sins. Your rewards are determined by your obedience allowing Jesus to be Lord of your life, and good works follow those who are saved by God's grace (Eph 2:8-10).
"For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:17-18)
Since the forum topic is Bible study, nowhere does the Bible declare salvation is granted freely to everyone. It is granted to those who follow the prescription God gives in John 3:16.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
It's as simple and as difficult as that!

Re: Still just platitudes
This OT law is certainly valid:
Eze 18:4 "Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die."
So would you rather have law or grace and truth?
John 1:17 "For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ."

Re: Still just platitudes
What law? The "law of sin and death." The soul who sins will die.
Call grace and truth more platitudes if you will, but Jesus Christ is the only ONE who can deliver you from the "law of sin and death" and save you from your sins.

Re: Still just platitudes
Getting "saved" has everything to do with THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH (Eze 18:4)
Rom 7:24 "Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death"
Rom 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death."
This is what all the OT laws were about, to bring man to a knowledge of sin and the truth that man is a sinner and needs a SAVIOR. If you dismiss this as more platitudes, why even bother with what the Bible has to say about anything?

Re: Still just platitudes
The problem is that you don't accept what the Bible has to say about the Law, sin, and accountability to God.
Romans 3:19-20 "Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin."

Re: Still just platitudes
I don't know what salvation you are talking about, but it's not the Bible kind of salvation. According to Jesus, the Bible kind of God's salvation is given freely to the "whosoever wills" of John 3;16. The "whosoever won'ts" are promised no salvation according to John 3:18.
Those that are willing to start at God's starting point can then move forward to the good works that follow God's salvation. Those who try to rely "only" on their good works will find them insufficient to cover their sins.
It's as simple and as difficult as that.

Re: Please try reading what I wrote.
Yes, salvation in Christ Jesus is freely given to ALL, but salvation in Christ Jesus is NOT accepted by all. This is the Jesus Christ kind of salvation as revealed in the Bible.
Of course, if you want to put your faith and trust in some other kind of salvation, be my guest.
It's as simple and as difficult as that.

Re: Please try reading what I wrote.
Again, your problem is with the words of the Lord Jesus, not with me. You are living proof that you choose not to accept the Jesus Christ kind of salvation as revealed in the Bible (John 3:18).
How you can call yourself a Christian and reject Christ's salvation is puzzling to say the least.

Re: Too funny.
The Old Covenant laws were given by God to lead us to the New Covenant salvation relationship that is in Christ Jesus.
Yes, God's saving grace is offered to ALL - John 3:16. Jesus says it is offered to ALL so that the world MIGHT be saved through Him - John 3:17. But if God's saving grace is rejected, one has been judged already because he chose not to believe in the only begotten Son of God - John 3:18. Maybe you think this judgment somehow means eventual salvation for unbelievers, but Rev 20:15 says differently.
Perhaps someday you will understand the message.
