We Christians sometimes imagine that we are superior to lesser mortals who remain clueless as to the reality of God. You guys respond by asking for proof, which we don't have.One side believes that Without faith it is impossible to please God.The other side would assert that without evidence it is impossible to prove God. The world would certainly be a better place if only such a concept would catch on.It's almost as if old religions knew such an idea was a good thing, even. Which such lines as "Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Perhaps this phrase should be expanded, instead of contracted.
Don't contract it and focus on the specific works-vs-faith salvation.
But expand on the '...lest any man should boast" idea.That is, understand that all humans are equal.
Understand none of us is "any better" than any other of us... 'lest any man should boast.'Can certain people be smarter? Sure.
Can certain people be stronger? Sure.
Can certain people be better at any "works?" Sure.
But, our essence of being human, having the right to pursue a safe, enjoyable life - we are all equal, and no one is "any better" at being granted such a right... "lest any man should boast."
That's what it's talking about.Or, at least, that's the way I like to see it.

Reexamined in light of PaulK's new topic. Many see a parallel between the United States and the Roman Empire, though a bit of a stretch and by no means conclusive. I will grant that believers see what they want to see, though I might assert that *we* believe that some Christians are actually guided by the Holy Spirit (God Himself). I will say that this group is a definite minority among Christians. Cults are another story.Personally, I agree with the idea that the United States could be Mystery Babylon The Great mentioned in the book of Revelation.

The post you are replying to is about Daniel 2, not Revelation. If you want to actually address the points then do that. If you just want to go off on an irrelevant tangent do a General Reply or - better - don’t bother.

It’s a little late to ask that, isn’t it? I did not waste my time with the book, so likely the quotes were obtained via the - now defunct - website. (And if you want to know why I considered the book a waste of time the quotes ARE the reason).
