This Bathroom Law Confusion

I had several discussions about this with some family members who are for these laws. The core of their argument and belief is that gay and transgendered people are pedophiles.I no longer consider them family and will discourage any further contact. I only had anything to do with them because I did not want to hurt my parents and since I lost my parents in 2012 I no longer have any reason to have contact with these bigots.I think the people who are enacting these laws are actually intentionally trying to legalize discrimination against people they hate.

I think there is finally something you and I agree about. I think it is really, really stupid for a group of people making any laws what so ever about which bathroom other people use. AND the laws they have passed don't make any sense at all and are ass backwards, forcing people who look like men to use women's restrooms and people who look like women to use men's restrooms.It is completely daft.

I do not know about any pro-LGBT Laws, other than the Supreme Court ruling about gay marriage.It seems obvious, to me, that we have come to a point in America where we say discrimination against other people is NOT a right, because some people seem to think it is.Edited by Tanypteryx, : grammer

Well, actually I meant that I haven't paid much attention and was not aware of laws passed by states or other levels of government to protect LGBT people from discrimination.I support laws that ban any form of discrimination against anyone and I see that they need to be as specific as necessary, so the assholes cannot find any loopholes.This my lack of awareness about the pro-LGBT laws due to just not seeing much news about them. Oddly, I seem to have become more aware of anti-LGBT laws that have been passed or proposed around the country. Maybe this is because the gay friends I have post more info about the anti laws on the social media I pay attention to.As I noted earlier, I have cut all ties with family members who are bigots against pretty much everyone who is different from them, including me, as an atheist.

To me, it looks like you are saying that the very existence of LGBT people is a violation of your rights.I disagree that your view represents the majority or society at large.

I didn't say anything about a few. I said it is not the majority (of Americans).Republican-controlled state legislatures and Republican governors are the ones behind the anti-LGBT laws. These are people who think the existence of LGBT people is a violation of their rights and they are intentionally doing everything in their power to make these people's lives miserable. These are the same assholes who a few generations ago were lynching blacks and some of them are killing LGBT people when they get the chance.So NO, their feelings don't deserve any consideration when the rest of us say we want to give LGBT citizens the same protections from discrimination that the rest of America enjoys.

And they all switched parties and became Republicans.I'm done.
