Re: Origins of an Idea
As some of the wicked ones in this forum who year after year handle the Bible but not for its spiritual nourishment. They are not growing. Many have never become babes in the spirit to begin with.
The word is not feeding them. Rather year after year it is causing them to become more rebellious, more blind, and more unbelieving.
This is tragic. So do not use "spooky" and "decoder ring" to rationalize your unbelief and rebellion against the New Testament revelation.
Obviously you got nothing since all you can do is make personal attacks.
Are you that afraid of words?
I am sure Ringo and others would love to know how one can rebel against the New Testament. It is just a book and there are many versions of the book.
So a couple things.
What version of this book should we use and why?
Why do you react so violently and emotionally to the fact people don't believe your mumbo-jumbo?
As Jar likes to say this is just an interpretation of the bible by your particular group in the club christianity. I am quite sure there are members of the club christianity that dont follow your beliefs in this. Does that make them not christian?

Re: Origins of an Idea
Either way, we know that regeneration through the Spirit of Jesus Christ is a reality.
But alas, all you have are stories from the faithful. Not real convincing. Evidently you have a skewed definition of reality.

Re: Origins of an Idea
Theodoric, be realistic. There are thousands of testimonies through the ages of followers of Jesus.
I am sure the vast majority of people think they are getting something. But what this is is up for debate. You might want to study a little about psychology and sociology.
There are millions in the world that feel they have received something from Mohammed and Allah. Do you just accept this because they say so? If there numbers are bigger than yours do they win?
There are alternative reasons why these people feel how they do and feel they have been "regenerate". Why is the default some mystical man, that probably never existed in human form, is responsible?
Would you say everyone writing on the Internet is lying because some wackos are out there ?
Never said they were lying. I would go with deluded though.
I have read and heard testimonials which I trust. Sorry, if you can't trust a solitary one.
Evidence sir, evidence. Personal testimony ain't evidence for anything. You and they are reinforcing what you already believe. Your minds are already made up.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Who are you ? Why should I trust you ?
I am not the one making outlandish claims. I am not asking you or anyone to take what I say on any authority.
Were you sticking your tongue out at me when you typed this?
So no real response to my post?

Heresy? Heresy? are you serious?
It is a heresy to teach that Jesus Christ was not the perfect and sinless Man.
Are you the keeper of Christian doctrine? An offense toward the doctrine of Jaywill is heresy?
So what is to be done with heretics?

Re: Heresy? Heresy? are you serious?
Forget about whose the keeper.
No, because that is the point. You obviously feel you are in some position of authority on christian dogma and doctrine if you can proclaim something heretical.
If you can find in New Testament teaching where it says Jesus sinned or was not the perfect sinless man, put it up there.
There is nothing in there about him taking a crap either. So are we to assume that if he had existed that he did not have bodily functions?
Debunk em. That's all I do. You were hoping I would say "Burn em at the stake ?"
So I would guess everyone not part of your particular club of club christianity qualifies as a heretic?

Are you truly resorting to that?

Re: Origins of an Idea
Doesn't make sense to me.
So all it is is being a decent human being?
I do that every day and I don't have any commune with any mythical being.
Why do Christians need some outer influence in order to be good? Why not be good for goodness sake?
I am also sick of this Christian fallacy that because of their "living Christ" they are some how capable of doing much more good. Its a bunch of bullshit. Their whole attitude towards non-Christians is a subtle and not too subtle demonization.

Re: Origins of an Idea
If I want a sermon I would go see a preacher. Take you sermons to someone else. All it is is mumbo-jumbo.
All your evidence to support YOUR bible is YOUR bible itself. Very circular. Who decided what books got into this bible?
