I scanned that article you cited and I checked out some of their references but didn't come up with anything. In fact, it seems to me that it is exactly the opposite. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we have breeded the heck out of dogs. These dogs still have the ability to breed together don't they? It may be awkward with a chiuaua and a Dane but their genetics still match up okay...
