Categories Proposal
Forums at EvC are divided into several categories: science, religion, etc. Categories for politics could be chosen in more than one way, but one approach I like is geographical, e.g., American politics, European politics, global politics, etc.

I see a potential problem with geographical divisions in that people from one geographical region may not bother with the other regions, making the community fractured. Maybe not, you're the one who's run one of these things.
I'm just putting forward ideas like anyone else, here's a related idea for categories with example forums:
Category Forums
=========================================================
Major Geographical Regions North America
                                  Europe
                                  Asia
                                  Africa
                                  etc.

Major Political Topics Economics
                                  Convervative versus Liberal
                                  Government Systems
                                  etc.

Political History/Philosophy Marxism
                                  etc.

Others...
This is just to try to provoke more thought. Now that I see this I think it could be greatly improved upon or just influence other ways of organizing things.

Re: Lacking momentum
I endorse WK's request to himself that he encourage political discussions to move to the http://www.politicusmaximus.net/cgi-bin/dBoard.cgi. Maybe the admins here can do the same.
