So Christianity, today's Christianity is possible even if Jesus never really existed?
Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

I don't assume anything, I see that the only mention of the temple is when Jesus is pointing to it and telling the disciples it will be destroyed, and this is also what all the theologians say, the trustworthy ones.
The writers are honest and believable, if you can't see it nobody is going to be able to make you see it. Simple honest hearts believe it and cherish it, they don't claim to understand all of it.

quote: Which neither states nor implies that the Temple was still standing at the time the Gospels were written. It's not an issue of believing the writers. And may I take it that you know perfectly well that neither the Gospels of Matthew or Mark claim to have been written by an eye-witness and that the Gospel of Luke is traditionally assigned to a follower of Paul who witnessed some events seen in Acts, but no more.

Well of course you have not provided any answers to any of my questions. Why do you beliefs trump experts and scholarship?
Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

Just read it and believe it. That's the only way you'll get the answers to your questions.

jar writes: So Christianity, today's Christianity is possible even if Jesus never really existed? Only Christianity as a philosophy, not Christianity as a religion. If one doesn't believe that Jesus existed, or that if He did that He wasn't resurrected then it again falls back simply in believing in an unknown god but one who more or less is consistent with Christian philosophy. Christianity is about seeing Jesus anointed by God as the Messiah and then confirmed and vindicated by God in His resurrection. If Jesus simply didn't exist, or if simply died and without being resurrected then why on earth would anyone see him as someone to worship? How do you worship someone who is dead? The Islamic faith for example sees Mohammed as the last of the prophets, and they worship Allah. They follow the teachings of Mohammed but they don't worship him. Christianity calls us to worship a living Jesus. He has told you, O man, what is good ; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

If people believe then does it matter whether or not the belief is based on reality?
And aren't Taoism and Buddhism religions? And is God alive? Can you apply the terms alive or dead to a supernatural entity? But did Jesus command anyone to worship a living Jesus? What are the two Great Commandments?Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Just read it and believe it. That's the only way you'll get the answers to your questions. Using your method, every religion would be true.

There's not much if anything to believe in other religions, it's mostly precepts and instructions to obey. The Bible is unique for being an historical account of the dealings of the true God with humanity, that's why it is to be believed.
The concept of "faith" really has nothing to do with any religion but Christianity. Others have simply appropriated it. But Christians truly do live by faith. So: read it and believe it. It could change your life. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

Such as:
Belief that all the miracles really occurred as reported in the Bible so that you canBelieve that it is really God who is behind them Believe that He is real and that He cares about humanity Believe that He inspired prophecies of things to come Believe that He promised to send a savior from our sins And that we need a savior because we're all sinners thanks to our father Adam's original sin of disobedience Believe that the prophecies of the savior have been fulfilled Believe that some prophecies of times of great evil and the return of Christ are not yet fulfilled but will be Have faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to pay for your sins. Have faith that you receive eternal life by faith in Christ Have faith that God will fulfill all prophecies and promises. If you believe the "scholars" who claim these things never happened you destroy all possibility of faith. Which is fine with some I suppose. Jesus said Repent and believe. That's all we're supposed to do. If you think there are contradictons you can't believe, which is a tragedy. Just read it and believe. That's all there is to say. If you believe the debunkers you're lost. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

That's also what they tell the suicide bombersLife, don't talk to me about life - Marvin the Paranoid Android "Science adjusts it's views based on what's observed.Faith is the denial of observation so that Belief can be preserved." - Tim Minchin, in his beat poem, Storm.

Repent and believe, you can't do the rest until after that.
Mark 1:14-15 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
