Michael Savage and Autism

Recently the radio shock jock Michael Savage made the statement that autism was a fraud and that most autistic children were brats who needed to be repremanded (sometimes physically) by their fathers.http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,387662,00.htmlConsidering the junk I have had to deal with due to my autism as well as those of others and the facts about autism (seemingly ignored by numerous people), I conclude that Michael Savage doesn't know anything about medical science, legit science, or the experiences of the autistic. I have been very steamed at what he has stated, but I am trying to control what I write about the man; as a Christian I dont want to go into a viscious verbal assault on him.The question I have for EVC bloggers is where do they stand on this issue? What do they believe? Hi Minnemooseus.It is strange how Michael savage seems to be trying to protect children and then at the same time call children diagnosed as autistic as "Idiots", Putzes" Morons" who have no Father in their life.But of course this is not his only scienctific/moralfault; he also lambasts Global warming on his show with trick arguments. I would never trust him as a source for any paper for college or any book (unless the paper/book is on stupid statements).

I dont want the guy to even talk hehehe. You dont know how mad i was when i found out about it on CNN. I'm still steamed just thinking about it now. And its not like you can actually "Confront him" on his radio show; he has the power to tune you off from the hearers and blab his diatribes at you (well heard)and he does his best to bully you verbally in such a discussion (not letting you speak or answer his first so-called question while hurling numerous ones at you. Must be some type of logical fallacy.)Its just like the "hero" of the Movie "Thank you for smoking" where he tells his son "That's the beauty of it; if you debate well, you're never wrong", the words of a spin doctor.

If he where diagnosed with Aspergers or some other form of autism, he could possibly get some legal protection from that kind of harassment. But then again i dont know for sure nor do i know the inner workings of the military.I have some similarities to Asperger's syndrome even though i am diagnosed PDD-NOS (Not otherwise Specified). With Autism you can have problems with social skills (I have two books at home for Autistic people to do well in social envoronments). If he has some type of Autism, then such social problems combined with military life could cause some issues to arise.

I have had those moments (one of which i wont go into here, but always sends my mother into laughter). To have his mouth overload his rear lol.I'm surprised somebody hasn't beaen the tar out of him since starting his radio show.

Only if the Psychiatrist is not a hack or on the fringe (lunatic fringe...?) and his views are backed up by the majority of his peers and the evidence. True, sometimes the minority view of some sciences has some merit (I could name a few, but i dont want this debate to get sidetracked. Can look at the Bigfoot thread though for one, but please all stay on topic), but they actually go by true evidence, and unless this shrink has it (and not something cooked up by Savage and some conservatve thinktank who want people like me locked up in loonry bins or get no help whatsoever)then it is bogus. We need to see a peer reviewed source that backs up this person's claims, one that is not heavily challenged by otghers. What you call an exaggeration, i call a slap in the face.
