There is also the possibility of Eve sleeping with her offspring, but apparently human genes were so pure 6000 years ago that there would be no birth defects by sleeping with direct relations!
I am always intrigued by the fact that Cain and Abel are not listed amongst Adam's generations in Genesis 5, wonder why.

Reminds me of another joke!! LOL
A southern baptist preacher dies and leaves a 5 million dollar fortune to his wife.
Unfortunately for her, she cannot get her hands on it until she is 13!
Ta-da!!

Does footnote 9 mean that Eve was Adam's daughter?

In scripture only the males are generally recorded.
Eh?
There are many women recorded in the Bible, you even mentioned one by name in this post.
There are also four women recorded in the fictional genealogy of Jesus' found in Matthew's Gospel. Although these women are recorded in Matthew, lineage does not come through any of them,a bit of a bummer for the Davidic bloodline of course.

OIC,
Sorry, I didn't realise that you were only talking about in genealogies, I though you were just talking about the Bible in general, I must have overlooked the reference to genealogies.
There are some women mentioned in genealogies but they never have a bloodline coming through them, it is only the males who have their bloodlines recorded. The Book of Numbers suppports the male only hereditary line.
Anyway, sorry for the confusion.
Brian.

He didnt explicitly mention David, but he did mention David's son, Solomon, so was there 1000 years between David and his son Solomon?
A quick way for you to solve this for yourself is to search the Internet for Bishop Ussher, and bible chronology.
But it is generally accepted that there was 4000 years from creation to Jesus, Ussher gives a creation date of 4004 BC.
If you take the Bible literally, this makes the universe and eveything in it just over 6000 years old. of course, but most level headed people, Christian and non-christian, reject this absurdity.
Brian.

Do Christian 'scholars' always talk to their readers as if they are 5 years old?
This example from Ham, Sarfati, et al looks as if it was written for a Sunday School beginners class.
Doesn't it bother you that these people regard their readers as little more than idiots?
Look at the amazing scholarship in this article:
Defenders of the Gospel must be able to show that all human beings are descendants of one man and one woman (Adam and Eve)
Do you know of any Christian over the age of 3 who does not know that the first man and woman were called Adam and Eve?
Brian.
