speaking for myself
RINGO: [Jesus said, "Love thy neighbour as thyself." We can't love ourselves without forgiving ourselves for our sinful, rebellious nature. God has forgiven us. We can't love Him or our neighbours or ourselves until we forgive ourselves too.]
Why did god give you a sinful, rebellious nature and not me? That's not fair. I want one too.

Re: Sin by Definition
I know what sin is, Phat. I wanted to know why I should ask others about myself?

don't want to know
Your definition is the most sensible I have ever heard. I wonder if people just don't want to know and would rather keep comparing the 'goodies' and the 'baddies'?

Aren't you mistaking humour for arrogance and it has nothing to do with free will?

Re: Sin by Definition
I'm not sure what your point is? Do I find the definitons compelling?
In what way? Do I agree with the defintions? Or am I compelled to commit sin? Just cut to the chase and say what's on your mind. I'm intriqued!

Re: speaking for myself
Thank the lord. Someone else with a WICKED sense of humour. Is that a sin? Is that why the others don't find it funny? I've not stopped laughing. Oh no, is that being arrogant? I'll surely go to hell.

Re: speaking for myself
I just find it surprising that my comment would be taken seriously under any circumstances. I don't actually believe in sin as defined but I do have a rebellious nature and it shows.

Re: Sin by Definition
I don't agree with the definitions and I think neither do you. personally, I define sin as a suppressive ideal.

Re: Sin by Definition
Sidelined, if I had to define sin as an action, I would say that it is in breaking any one of the 10 commandments.

Ringo, it was a joke! I wasn't being arrogant. I was surprised by your reaction. Was I not meant to take it personal? Were you just generalizing?

Re: speaking for myself
Well Ringo I have to say I absolutely agree with you. However, it is a terribly difficult concept for most to understand and accept. Do you think this concept could make a difference if the majority accepted it?

If people stopped passing the buck and took responsibility for their own actions... it might improve their behaviour somewhat. It wouldn't change our natural tendency to screw up, but it might make us more willing/eager to fix our screwups.
I believe our potential to change is much greater than that. Once 'satan' is exposed and becomes transparent, the fear will dissolve. Whilst the 'evil' within us is denied, it has power.
If it is not judged and accepted as a choice, and not as an evil command, the choices will will change the world. Big dreams but possible.
My advice is for everyone to voice all their evil little thoughts and have a good laugh.
