Why do believers always give god based motivations to people who do not subscribe to belief in gods? I don't have a god shaped hole in my head that needs filling.

Because we all have a theological position. It is the foundation for our assumptions. Some are just more logical than others.
Now, I infer from scottnesss reply that he means that everyone alive today must make take a theological stance before we can hold any assumptions about the world.
Scottness appears to hold the position that we must have a god shape hole in our head that we must fill somehow.
If I was a psychologist (which I am) I would reframe this to say that our beliefs about the nature of the world cannot form in our heads untill we come to terms with the issue of the divine and to come to an informed theological position.
I would argue that this is not required and that we can form assumptions about the world, self and others without any theological position.
A theological position is only required by somebody who has been informed about theology. From here the individual tests the god hypothesis.
Being introduced to this hypothesis is not required for an approriate development of assumptions and beliefs about the world. Once the god hypothesis is introduced obviously it cannot help but influence the individual, but it is not required.
So my question is: do we have a god shaped hole in our head that must be filled before we can make assumptions about the world.
