Re: Is faith reasonable?
quote:
"So the Bible must be true because the Bible says it is true!"
It aint simply because the bible says it, it is because God said it.
Um, but you read it in the Bible, which you belive is God's word, correct?
That means you believe what the bible says because you believe what the Bible says.
Circular reasoning, sorry.
quote:
This of course is valid only if you believe in God
Not true. There are many, many people who believe in God without the biblle.
quote:
and it is the only way it can be understood.
Also very obviously not true. the Bible is understood at least 600 different ways in the US alone.
quote:
"Why am I reasoning in sinful ways? You reject 9999 of the 10000 (or whatever) religions. I just reject one more than you. But my reasoning is sinful and yours is reasonable! Why do you reject Islam, or Taoism, or Buddhism?"
Simple. Because they dont accept jesus as the one and only son of god and christianity does.
So, you believed in Jesus as the son of God as something separate from Christianity??
Your faith seems to be based upon your belief that the Bible is the word of God, but lots of other religions, some much older than Christianity, also base their faith upon holy books or writings.
Therefore, you have no more evidence than any other religion that yours is correct.
quote:
Thats why it is the only religion that doesnt get along with the others.
Um, groups of people of different religions have been having trouble getting along for much longer than the existance of Christianity.
quote:
Jesus said "i am the way, the truth, and life". "Nobody can have have a direct relationship with god if it aint thru me". Jesus was the only one with the guts to say such a thing and to back it up with his actions and words. he others that have claimed to be him say it but cant demostrate it like he did.
What, exactly, is your non-biblical evidence that Jesus demonstrated anything at all?
quote:
the other religions cant accept this because they try to fit the word of god to them instead of molding themselves to gods word. see the difference.
No, actually, I see very little difference between what believers of various faiths say to justify their beliefs.
quote:
"I suggest you provide some arguments or evidence supporting your views."
This is more experience than theory. give god a try. a sincere try and youll find out what i mean when you feel his presence in your life and feel him guiding you in life every step of the way
How do you know you aren't just imagining God's presence?
Also, what do you say to those of us who were once ardent belivers who's prayers were never answered?
