I can imagine a question like that, but I don't think the questioner could have been entirely serious. I often hear "What church do you go to?" asked with nary a moment's thought given to the idea that the person questioned might in fact not go to church. When I'm asked, I say that I don't go to church. The conversation usually ends right there.
