It is a very common misconception that the laws of thermodynamics are axioms, i.e. laws that can not be (positively) proven. They, however, can be nicely derived from a single postulate in statistical physics which states that in equilibrium every iso-energetic state has the same chance of being occupied. Understanding this makes these 2nd law discussions even more futile than they usually are.. my $0.02
