I don't know if anyone's bothered to document the degree of misattribution of quotes on the Internet, but I can't count the number of times I've noted that it wasn't actually so-and-so who said such-and such.I don't know if it's true, but it feels like most quotes get attributed to Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin.
