Re: Interpretation
Well if you wanna know what I think....
All of the people are fallible some (most) of the time.
Some of the people are fallible all of the time.
Not all of us are fallible all of the time. There are those Holy Spirit moments....even atheists get them!

Re: Interpretation
Faith writes:
Actually, yes, literally, in that we are literally descended from him (Adam)physically. This is one of those peculiar Biblical revelations that are found only in the Bible and nowhere else as far as I know. Literally it's even logical, as the genetic potential for every descendant is already present "in the loins of" our ancestors, but this connectedness to them, according to the Bible, extends even to our spiritual nature, to our inheriting the sin nature from Adam, and also spiritual influences from all our closer ancestors.
The only thing about this that confuses me is why a group of people coming from a common father would then scatter themselves..migrating thousands of miles...away from this father?
Was it human nature to disperse? If so, why then did cities begin?

I've shown my evidence, you just have to accept that my word is flawless, if I say they are sad, and lonely then that isn't up for debate.

You are supposed to say "Cheers, Brian." I get sad and lonely when you leave the word "cheers" out of your signature!

Re: Interpretation
What I mean't was that we are all infallible when God uses us to speak truth. Since you do not believe in God, I can see your point as the logical conclusion. I will never claim to be infallible, yet I DO know that on rare occasions, God has given me the best words for a given individual which they regarded as just what they needed. Who am I to say that my advice was infallible? Perhaps someone else could have given better advice. Perhaps your point is that we are never 100%...we are always striving to get closer to that ideal.
My point is that God is always 100% and on occasion uses humans to spread wisdom and truth.

Re: Interpretation
Is it dangerous because people use it to justify fanaticism? If so, I agree.
Is it dangerous because it is blind ignorance preventing human progress? If so, I disagree.

Re: The Religious state of mind
One school of thought would say that God authored the Bible...through His interaction with always fallible humans. There was murder, genocide, dishonesty, and pride. Israel was "told" to wipe out other nations to avoid being wiped out herself. (Kinda like America was "told" to fight terrorism to avoid being terrorized.) The text would say that "The Lord told us to do this or that.." But this was humans reporting on what they heard from God.(or that other spirit, unknowingly) The same is true in America. Jesus said that one is either for Him or against Him. George W.Bush, in a message to the "terrorists" of the world and the nations who harbored them..was that they needed to be "for us or against us."
My point is that one aspect of the religious state of mind is declaring how one "hears" from God.
The story of Jeus Christ is markedly different. It tells of a man who never sinned yet who acted and interacted with people who either loved Him or hated Him. If Jeus Christ told George Dubya and his inner circle to sell all that they have and follow Him, they would probably try and nuke Him.
We hear what we want to hear.
The other school of thought, logical and unbiased, hears only from the human authors. The book is but a collection of stories.
Were the characters...specifically Jesus...the character behind the book...factual or fictitious? Depends on who you hear it from.
I can honestly say that I have heard from Jesus before.

Re: Interpretation
The Bible says that Men should treat their wives like christ treated the church. Christ died for the church. (and everyone else)
Men should be willing to let their ego die for their wife.
Then...maybe she will want to love him and serve him a little bit.
Once he becomes humble as Christ is humble.
