Thanks! You can see the hole on stage actually, I made a point of looking because obviously the stick has to be rigid. I figured somehow his upper body had to be made rigid too, but I didn't guess the metal structure. If you hadn't explained it I wouldn't have known what to make of Panda's pictures except that it turns out to be a common trick that the AGT judges weren't familiar with. I'm happy to know the spoiler.

ABE: Watched it again. Now I think at least Howard Stern was in on it, supplying some of the distraction. The others seemed genuinely surprised.
