Well it's a good trick, but it's even better PR.

No theories are needed. Any theories about how he does it? It is an old trick. I prefer this one:

Well, bit of a spoiler alert here, but you can google a reveal fairly easily, so I don't feel too guilty :-)
Notice the long sleeves and long skirt on his robe ? It hides a simple metal structure which goes up his sleeve, down his arm, and under his derriere to sit on. In the street, his stick (which will have a metal core) will attach into some solid structure. On stage, he'll have collaborated with AGT to have a secured hole on stage, for the stick to fix into. I've seen a BBC article, video-ing the same trick in India, then showing the Swami demonstrating the metal structure. The clever bit is the collaboration to deceive - either here with AGT, to prepare the anchoring structure - or on TV, to falsify the image or prepare another concealed anchoring structure. The guy's delivery is very skilled though - kudos to him :-)Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Thanks for the pics Panda.
Whilst we're kind of on the topic, any idea how Dynamo pushes coins through a glass table into the audience's hand ? I'm guessing he palms the coin on top, and throws another coin under the table, into the hand of the audience ? (I can't see any throwing on TV, but I'm guessing the trajectory is hidden by his arm, or simply edited out of the TV copy ?)Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

A picture paints a 1000 words....so here's a series of pictures.

Thanks! You can see the hole on stage actually, I made a point of looking because obviously the stick has to be rigid. I figured somehow his upper body had to be made rigid too, but I didn't guess the metal structure. If you hadn't explained it I wouldn't have known what to make of Panda's pictures except that it turns out to be a common trick that the AGT judges weren't familiar with. I'm happy to know the spoiler.
ABE: Watched it again. Now I think at least Howard Stern was in on it, supplying some of the distraction. The others seemed genuinely surprised. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

The nice thing about this levitation is that the audience can see that the magician is in contact with a rigid object which is in contact with the floor, and yet they still don't know how it's done.

The best "magic" is good even if you know how it works. My favorite is still Teller putting a lit cigarette into his pocket and then pulling it out of his ear while Penn is explaining every move he is making.

One of my favorite routines! I have never though, seen them do it so badly as in that clip.
They do it so much better in their show where they travel around egypt. My alltime favorite Teller routine: Took me ages to figure that one out (The Finale, the beginning is standard stuff).

Yeah - but all the other videos were so blurry, you couldn't see the balls. I have never though, seen them do it so badly as in that clip.I definitely saw them do it better on their own TV show - but I couldn't find that one.
