Re: Why December 25th?
Do you agree that some Christians are trying to take over the celebrations and festivals from other cultures, traditions and beliefs?
Isn't it common knowledge that, when converting other cultures, Christians, instead of elimiating, simply adopted the local customs and doctored them up into their own?

Re: Why December 25th?
Yea especialy when it comes to christmas just about everything in christmas is adopted from other cultures its like you put them all in a blender ran it for an hour then stamped jesuses name on it.
A lot of cultural shit goes down this time of year, what with the whole solstice thing.
"Everybody is having parties already, instead of trying to cancel all these parties, lets just convince them to keep the party, but do it for Jesus instead."
Ain't that a brilliant way to forward your religion!

Re: Why December 25th?
Unfortunately, common knowledge is not that common in some christian communities.
Which communities think that tree decorating was invented by christians?
It always cracks me up when christians claim that Jesus is the "Reason for the Season". If we really went to the source, paganism is the "Reason for the Season". Just tell one of the Christmas defenders that and watch their feathers ruffle.
But that's just because they got there first, because they were the oldest. Nowadays tho, we're not putting up christmas trees because were maintaining pagan rituals, we're doing it because christians adopted those rituals and injected Jesus into them. So the reason we have a christmas tree today, is because of the christians, ergo Jesus *IS* the reason for the season. (even tho he's not the source of the ritual)
Its kinda funny tho, that on one hand we have that Jesus isn't really behind the christmas tree, and on the other hand we have not wanting to call it a christmas tree because Jesus is behind it

Re: Why December 25th?
It is just something the try-hard haters like to say,
There's some videos in the OP that I didn't watch... but apparently there's some neo-cons who were upset that the Christmas Tree was being re-labeled as a "Holiday Tree". The point was that decorating trees was a pagan custom to begin with, so its absurd to be upset that the word "christams" is being removed from a description of it.
It like being mad that someone covered your version of a cover-song...
