Tea Party Questions

I don't think this particular accusation is fair to the Tea Party. To my ear, the cheering came from at most 3 people in that audience, and I don't think even those 3 people were "cheering the death of an uninsured man", but instead were cheering the concept of personal responsibility, even to extreme cases. My guess is, they (and many TPers), think that a world with more personal responsibility and less social welfare would be a world where things generally run better, with less suffering and fewer unnecessary deaths, for instance. I don't think they are actually happy about anone's death.

My guess is they were voicing their opposition to homosexuality in general and gays in the military in particular. That's gross. Well, OK. What I said doesn't contradict that. I'm just saying that they are hot to trot about what they consider "personal responsibility", even if it sometimes leads to death, as opposed to being hot to trot about death.

Eh, that may be a fair criticism. I did want to avoid arguing the morality of the Tea Party's philosophy with someone (Crash) with whom I more or less agree, so I ducked out when the ducking was good.My only point originally was that Nuggin's language in message 5: did not fairly capture the Tea Party's position. That doesn't mean that I agree with what (I think) the Tea Party's actual position is.
