Re: HTML Tags: BLINK and MARQUEE
Do people actually do that? I mean, other than me (my middle name is "annoying").
Yes, people actually do that. Try Message 182. It doesn't actually blink, but only because AdminJar turned of the blinking blink.
edit - added: It's the bold face all upper case text about 1/3 the way down.

Move ahead to the twentieth century, Firefox.
I actually think firefox is right to show the blinking.
If people to create really horrible web pages, we should allow web surfers to see how really horrible they are. The browser should not be in the business of concealing it.

Suggestion: a dbcode for user names
It might be useful to have a code for usernames. It could be similar to the "msg" code to identify messages. But, instead of generating a link to the message it would generate the name of the author of that message in the form of a link.
One benefit is that, as users change their primary names by adding aliases, this code would enable you to always refer to the currently chosen primary name.

Re: This is not a request or a question
It's interesting how we have logs of "Old-style arpanet".
This is most likely a categorization of IP addresses with badly broken reverse DNS. That is, due to incompetence somewhere, the rDNS associates the IP address with a name that ends in "in-addr.arpa".

Relative links
Allow relative links in the dBcode.
If I want to reference a message, but use my own text, I can currently do something like
the text I wish to display
However, I would like to be able to use
the text I wish to display
The reason for this is that some users login to www. while others login to . This can cause problems for users, if the way they login is different from what is in the link. A relative link avoids this.
I can use standard HTML tags
the text I wish to display
for relative links, but the dBcode version does not appear to work.
