In the Islam thread, schraf writes:
I mean, look at all the women that were killed as witches in the US and in Europe. Your religion made all of Europe stagenate in the Dark Ages, and that's exactly where you ALL want to take us back to if you had your way.
On the behalf of the cats of America, I would like to remind you that they almost wiped out the cat population in Europe during the inquisitions, especially the black ones.
So you see, women weren't the only ones that got hit hard in those times. Cats were also hit pretty hard as well.

What the hell kind of topic is this?
That's the reason why I put it in the coffee house!
I was trying to push schraf's buttons since she's a hardcore feminist.
And how the hell is this bypassing the proposed new topics procedures?

Yes. The more people died, the more they blamed those darn witches. The more they blamed those darn witches, the more they killed those darn witches and their associates, the cats. The more they killed those darn witches and the cats, the more people died from the plague. It was a downward spiral that led to a third of Europe's population's demise.

This is why people like me, you, and schraf are here. We have been at war with religious zealots for the last... forever and the war is still being fought these days. If our side suddenly stops caring, then I have no doubt that the religious side of this board and society in general will turn our civilization into another dark ages. Since I am their primary target, I'm sure I'd be among the first ones to arrive in their torture chambers so they could make me confess to the charge of being a devil's associate.

Actually, it was more like:
Dark age Xtian fundyism -> plague -> inquisitions -> women burnings -> less cats -> worse plagues -> more inquisitions -> even worse plagues -> even more women burnings -> labour shortage.
Unifications and formations of states -> renaissance -> more plagues -> more women burnings -> even less cats -> etc...
The formation of the various European states had nothing to do with less cats. It was an inevitable result of centuries of feudal warlords going for each others' throats.
