Its strange, but it seems that the vast majority of people actually *pushing* for same sex marriage and adoption rights are lesbian couples. Sure, gay couples tend to support it... but push for it? Some do, but not many.Here in Iowa, there were two things that really pointed this out to me. One, we had same sex couples all show up at the courthouse on one day to file for a marriage license (knowing we'd be rejected); we had like 30 or so couples. 80% or more were lesbian. From there, we switched to legal and strategic planning. Of the couples who went to that, about 90% were lesbian.Strangely, it still seems like men get the "face of the marriage equality movement" position, just like discussions about homosexuality in general almost always seem 90% focused on men. Why is this? Don't we count? I can't tell you how many times I've discussed online with strangers their objections to homosexuality. If the stranger is male, the conversation almost invariably turns to "I find the concept of two men having sex gross." (usually phrased more crudely).Hello! Men aren't the only people out there... and the media is only marginally better than your average person when it comes to this.
