In part thanks to this debate, I have learned that the problems with literal interpretation of Genesis run deeper than I had previously imagined. I would like to thank the Bible buffs here, on both sides of the debate, whose challenges and insights have strengthened my conviction. Yep. I've become more skeptical. But, at the same time, my respect for the holy script has increased.
Thanks to the the reactions of our opponents I have learned where hot buttons may be found and how to activate some of the ejection seats. Thanks to our colleagues I am learning how to smile politely while quietly adjusting the timer on my "bomb." But it's rarely that dramatic. Usually it's the Johnny Appleseed approach. Planting thoughts. Swatting flies.

Hi TC,
Love your avatar. It is rather stylized but I appreciate a hoisted tee shirt anytime.
