Shyangel,
As a fellow Christian I will cut to the point and give you some friendly advice. The opening of this thread sounded like a prayer request or something. This is NOT a support forum for Christian prayer requests, this is a debate between atheists and theists (and sometimes between theists)where anything said has a 9 in 10 chance to be shot full of bullet holes by the first guy to read it. I haven't read all of your posts on this forum but I'm under the impression you are strong in your faith and are a good person who has already found your truth and calling. Hey, you're way ahead of us if that's the case and we're glad that at least SOMEONE can sleep without pondering existence at night. However, if you want to discuss prayers in a Christian online community this isn't the place. If you post something like that, it's like cutting your hand in shark infested water. Wanna feel God? It(the King James Version of the Holy Bible) may have been translated across languages well, but do a little research on Jamesy and I can't help but think he did some friendly 'editing' of the Bible...

Does it really matter? I'm sure whichever one I say (I've got more than one around the house and they're different versions) will not be the true scripture, but really they aren't. They've all been edited and I have no doubt the 'editor' and his own prejudices were imputed into most of the books.
The main point is that there is a benevolent omnipotent God that sent himself as a man in the form of Jesus to die for our sins. That part hasn't been changed and that's the main point. So why sweat the small stuff? Wanna feel God? Step onto the wrestling mat and you'd be crazy to deny the uplifting spirit.

Thanks,Ned. It looks like at least one person doesn't think I'm crazy. Besides, the flood was by all means a miracle. Whether it happened or not I don't care that much but I don't understand why people look for evidence. A miracle like that wouldn't leave any evidence because that'd be a lot of sediment (or whatever rock would coat the earth after a Great Flood) and we'd be screwed.

"my preacher just preached a message on the small things, they matter."
A preacher said it?! Then it must be true, and every small detail is crucial!! Heh, sorry I'm being sarcastic. In about 10 years I will, beyond any reasonable doubt, be preaching at the pulpit. I'm a preacher in training, hence being 'born to preach'.You're arguing with me, meaning you disagree with my point. So how is you pastor any different than me? Just because s/he took a few university courses doesn't mean s/he knows everything. You can't get Holy Spirit from a text book. Preachers are not perfect. We are human, and our words are imperfect. God delivers His Message through us but we screw it up all the time. Ever played telephone? From the first message to the tenth guy delivering the message there is always a slight change. We don't deliver the Message perfectly because we aren't built that way! P.S. King James was still a Poon! Wanna feel God? Step onto the wrestling mat and you'd be crazy to deny the uplifting spirit.

I agree, that's why I'm not so sure that a flood(at least a worldwide one) even occured.
But please remember that an Omnipotent God could clean up. If there were sediment that thick then agriculture, a staple food source of the world, would face a slight problem. In fact plants in general pretty much couldn't grow, and we'd be screwed. So if this flood did happen, we can't really blame God for not leaving the evidence. Wanna feel God? I'd like to shake your hand as a fellow smart alek, but I can't because this is an internet forum.
But, and this is assuming the flood even happened, would you want Him to keep records that would have wiped us out long before now?

First of all, when did I ask for extra payment? And what mechanic has never EVER made a slight mistake on the job? A family friend is a mechanic and he does make mistakes now and then, but he corrects them with his own time and effort.
Same thing with us preachers; we understand we're not perfect while trying to be as good at what we do as possible. I will make mistakes at what I do. You think you'll never mess up whatever art that catches your interest? Part of immersing yourself in an art is becoming better at it. If you agree you have improved, you agree there were imperfections that you have corrected to a certain degree, and I'm sure there's more that you're working on these days. "...are you SURE thats your calling? " I'm sure I want to do this. Preachin' isn't for everyone, somebody's gotta do it. That somebody's me; please stick to the arguement without pulling the 'are you sure' card. Wanna feel God? Step onto the wrestling mat and you'd be crazy to deny the uplifting spirit.

"there needs to be like a disclaimer in every religious document, "These are not actual words of God, but it's what we think God might have said if we were God." "
Agreed. Human words are fallible and texts, no matter how holy, are written by men. As for the reverend thing I wasn't sure if that was sarcastic or not, but if it wasn't thank you. A lot of up-and-coming pastors I'm in contact with simply despise me for being 'liberal'(that's a bad thing?) and 'un-Christian' because of my views on religion and because I don't hang out exclusively with Christians in my spare time. But the problem with tomorrow's ministry is another story. For now I agree with what you said about spiritual texts. Wanna feel God?
