I just saw a facebook article (real trustworthy I know) that said that they ran the "first ever" test and found MJ did not impair driving.
Will be interesting to see the followup

Well, we know that's not true. Not if you're using the good stuff.
That's when you drive at a safe 5 mph ...

Sounds like something a toker would come up with.
Yep, I am skeptical but this sheds a little more on it:
quote:

First of Its Kind Study Finds Virtually No Driving Impairment Under the Influence of Marijuana

When taken in moderate amounts, cannabis seems to cause no significant driving impairment.
The first study to analyze the effects of cannabis on driving performance found that it caused almost no impairment. The impairment that it did cause was similar to that observed under the influence of a legal alcohol limit.
Researchers at the University of Iowa’s National Advanced Driving Simulator carried out the study, sponsored by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, National Institute of Drug Abuse, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy
"Once in the simulatora 1996 Malibu sedan mounted in a 24-feet diameter domethe drivers were assessed on weaving within the lane, how often the car left the lane, and the speed of the weaving. Drivers with only alcohol in their systems showed impairment in all three areas while those strictly under the influence of vaporized cannabis only demonstrated problems weaving within the lane.
Drivers with blood concentrations of 13.1 ug/L THC, or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient in marijuana, showed increased weaving that was similar to those with a .08 breath alcohol concentration, the legal limit in most states. The legal limit for THC in Washington and Colorado is 5 ug/L, the same amount other states have considered.
As expected, there was impairment in all areas when alcohol and cannabis were mixed. But cannabis itself, when taken in moderate amounts, seems to cause no significant driving impairment.
So it's not that there is no effect just that moderate use is similar in effect to moderate alcohol use.
That would certainly help Medical Marijuana users be able to dose for their medical condition and not have to have a designated driver (especially if the use the non-psychotropic oils)
Enjoy

Oh, it's not the speed, 5 mph is plenty fast, it's the turns.
You haven't really experienced that until you get in one of these new England traffic control things called a round-a-bout or circle ...
Uh, I was supposed to turn right back there.
I'll have to get it next time that it comes around

Individuals are individual and react differently. I have seen people who were totally impaired from the slightest amount of cannabis and others who could perform the most complicated of tasks after using huge amounts. Any seasoned user is mostly just relaxed.
I can say that I would much rather try to drive my kids down the road after smoking 2 joints than try and drive them down the road while texting. I would much rather be on roads full of slightly relaxed people as opposed to people who are 5 mins late for work and stressing.
Indeed, reaction is faster from relaxed than from tense, but you also need alert.
We have laws prohibiting impaired driving. If the police can't tell if a driver is impaired by talking to them and doing a few roadside tests then I would say that the driver is not impaired. Using an single parameter from a chemical analysis to determine impairment is a ridiculously clumsy tool .
And you can be impaired from shear exhaustion, even when loaded up on caffeine. Been there.

Re: something completely different
Try boron applied along baseboards and certainly under your sink.
Make a solution with water and mop it on or use a spray bottle. It may also alleviate the itching.
20-mule team borax is made from boron.
Enjoy

Re: something completely different
My brother got me some orthoboric acid that I have yet to try. ...
Google it:
Boric acid - Wikipedia
quote:
Boric acid, also called hydrogen borate, boracic acid, orthoboric acid and acidum boricum, is a weak, monobasic Lewis acid of boron often used as an antiseptic, insecticide, flame retardant, neutron absorber, or precursor to other chemical ....
Chemical formula: H3BO3
... Same thing?
No. Google again:
Pacific Coast Borax Company - Wikipedia
quote:
Borax has also been scientifically called sodium borate, sodium tetra borate, and disodium tetraborate. Simply put, borax is a boron compound, mineral, and a salt of boric acid which most often comes in a powdered form. Consequently, Boraxo is powdered, white and somewhat grainy and will dissolve in water but only after a long period of exfoliating dirty hands. The powdered form of Borax has the ability to emulsify and trap dirt and oil.[1]
Chemical formula
Na2B4O710H2O or Na2[B4O5(OH)4]8H2O
The "salt of" means it is a different compound, where sodium is added reducing the acid quality
Can I put it (Boric acid) on my skin?
I wouldn't.
Boraxo however can also be used as regular soap, good at exfoliation, etc and I find my skin feels nice and soft after using it. It was recommended to me when I worked with fiberglass which can be very very very itchy.
If nothing else it may provide relief from the itchy feeling.
Takes the grease off my hands after working on the bike too.
Enjoy

medical marijuana and thrips
None of this has anything to do with the topic of this thread, Marijuana.
It is related in a tangential way
Page non trouve - BuyDutchSeeds
quote:
... They have bodies that are shaped like a cigar, pointed butts and six legs. Thrips measure approximately 1/20th of an inch in length and their color varies from a light to a dark brown. They have wings that are narrow with fringe that gives them the appearance of a feather.
The damage to the plants is evident by the scars the insects leave behind. This damage may appear as bronze or silver markings or streaks on the stems or the leaves. ...
So Faith should ask her neighbor if his plants have such signs.
One of my growers got infested and he burned his whole crop and threw out the containers that he used to grow in, and then started over.
Sort of a scorched earth solution, but one thing he likes to do is be able to guarantee to his users that there are no infestations on his grow -- we are talking people with weakened immune systems and struggling health already, and we don't need to add stress.
Chemistry is not the topic either.
What, you never heard about living better through chemistry?
In the meantime the boraxo may sooth the itchy feeling whatever the cause.
Enjoy

Re: Don't touch my bags, if you please, Mr. Customs Man
Next up -- Canada.
Legalizing marijuana, also needs to legalize Hemp so it can be use to make paper, cloth, fuel, medicines.
New Canadian Prime Minster Plans to Legalize Marijuana | HuffPost Latest News
quote:
Last night, Canada voted in Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party in a general election -- a move that will have outstanding implications for drug policy reform in the country.
The election puts an end to Conservative Party Prime Minister Stephen Harper's nine-year rule, which was marked by a repressive approach to drugs, including a commitment to rolling out mandatory minimum sentences, pushback to effective supervised injection sites that reduce the harms of drug use, and strong opposition tomarijuana reform. In contrast, the Liberal Party has promised to legalize and regulate marijuana and Trudeau has expressed support for harm reduction and the expansion of supervised injection sites across the country.
If Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party follow through with their promise to legalize and regulate marijuana, Canada will become the second country in the world to have legalized all aspects of the marijuana market - including production, sale and consumption - following Uruguay's historic move to do so in 2013. In the United States, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Washington D.C. have legalized marijuana, with more states set to vote on regulated marijuana in 2015 and 2016 elections.
May need to renew my Canadian affiliation ...
