Re: What About Francis?
As a Christian, I have heard prophetic musings concerning who the antichrist is, who the false prophet is, etc etc.
Some Christians disagree on last days theology anyway.
I usually judge a man by his character, and this Pope seems to be quite humble towards the meek of the earth.
I always liked John Paul II but I never related to the German guy...
What are your spiritual beliefs? Do you come from a fundamentalist/charismatic background?

Note
I promoted it. Give the guy a break...not everyone who visits our forum is an educated critical thinker. Be cordial and attempt a conversation before jumping all over someone who dares to be a creationist.

Re: What About Francis?
I just believe the scripture ... I'm not sure what camp that places me in .... I just see myself as a child of God ... seeking to do his will
That sounds like a noble calling. You will find that this forum has many educated critical thinkers here and that they will argue quite persuasively against simply "believing scripture." Many of them have read the Bible, however...and some compelling arguments and discussions often arise here.
Let me ask you...do you believe that the world will end soon? Why or why not?
Do you believe that people who don't accept Jesus Christ will end up in Hell? Why or why not?

Forum Guidelines: Treat members with respect...

Wow I cannot believe we are giving this nutjob a forum.
The name of our forum is evolution versus creationism. While many of our members are educated and have had college, some of our members are avid Bible readers. Many of them trust what the book has to say. It is a bit rude to label someone a "nutjob" without getting to know them first.
You know me and can legitimately label me as such...but you don't yet know our new member. Show some cordiality for crying out loud!

Re: Note
For the record, I am a cosmological creationist. I think that God created all things seen and unseen. As far as Adam & Eve and all of that Biblical lore, I am not a literalist, though I do believe that God is interacting with humanity here on our planet.
I dont see the Bible as word for word literal although I DO see it as thought for thought accurate. It is not merely some book assembled by illiterate bronze age goat herders...it has some of the deepest philosophical musings that humanity has ever produced.
I also believe that Jesus is alive and lives through us as well as living eternally.
I used to believe in end times prophecy...but currently the jury is out on that one.
I think that end times prophecy could become a self fulfilling prophecy if people don't question it and examine the facts of an educated secular society.

Re: Forum Guidelines: Treat members with respect...
So assume..for a moment...that dadman is a young believer who has limited critical thinking skills and raised in dogma. Did it ever occur to you that you could attempt to teach him something rather than simply jump on him for his beliefs? The whole purpose of a forum is to initiate dialogue and stimulate thinking...not to trash anyone who-God forbid--has a different view from your own.
Many Biblical Christians believe that there will be an antichrist and a false prophet. Perhaps we can learn why dadman feels this way.

Re: Topic?
Our topic is about Pope Francis. What do you think of the new Pope? Does he seem in any way insincere or has he any ulterior motives that you can discern?

I believe we need to see the pope through the grid of God's word ... not the other way around . . . but I would start with the premise that there is no such thing as a Biblical Pope (substitute for Christ) nor the priesthood in general
Personally I would agree that Popes in general are no substitute for Jesus. Some folks think that all of us are charged to be Christlike while here on earth. They would argue that Jesus showed us how to live and how to treat others. Speaking of which....
quote:
I'm expecting all of the secular humanistic left / atheistic / false-religious-system / anti-christ / homosexual / and all the Biblical Harlot folk spoken about in Revelation 17 ...
does God hate leftists?
Can people help their sexual orientation?
Just some food for thought....

Re: Forum Guidelines: Treat members with respect...
the problem is that you proved your critics right. You ended up discussing nothing. Keep in mind that we are unlikely to promote any new topics if you cant keep your old ones going.
I tried to initiate dialogue by asking you questions....

The Grateful Dad
You are a bit of a troll but I like that you back up your claims with references. I know all about eschatology and studied the same stuff that you do fifteen years ago. I might learn something from you though...who knows?
Tell me though. Is it possible that you might be influenced by those whom teach you? Also....do you bother studying the counter arguments that critics raise or are you turning a blind eye to that?
By the way...what does this have to do with Pope Francis? Steer this back on topic.
Also....lets tone down advertising your forum. I allow it in your signature but will edit your posts.
