Re: Creation
Yes, but the crypto-creos are really amusing in their denial. In reply to your post there, Nuke is protesting that neither he nor any other bigbanger here is a creationist regardless of how the universe was created.
They constantly use the verb create and they deny the noun describes them. What kind of cognitive dissonance is that? When that is put to them they claim that are not creationists because the act of creation they believe in in the framework of bigbangism occurred so long ago by natural means. As if very old natural nothing could be less of a zilch.

Re: Vatican sophistry
One only needs to consider for a minute the enormity of the effrontery of this tacky clown.
He is asking the cat to support the observation that some available room is needed to move in each and every case where a motion of physical objects has occurred. His cheek is beyond belief. The idiot needs to expand a balloon. The process of expansion is a two entities relation. One entity expands and another is being expanded into. No exceptions. Neither observable nor conceivable without running into ridiculous contradictions.
Next he needs to read Friedmann and compare the descriptions offered by that mathemagician to the physical experiment. To see whether in the case of the balloon it is space itself that is growing as a function of time spent in blowing it up or it is just the motion of air pressing the surface to stretch.
I repeat: words have meanings. Such words as expand, space and Universe are key terms in the hypothesis. For eighty odd years now these terms have been mercilessly abused by the quackademic clowns expanding their cranky nothings into nowhere while pretending to do science.
Does the cat need to rub the quackademic snake oil peddling noses into this vomit again? Or the clown Tacky needs some more evidence that the stuff stinks?

Ode to a hairball
Perhaps the universe is like a cat that has it's tail stitched to it's nose and that is why there is a slight odour of excrement.
With apologies to the Vogons.
-
The cat's tail is stitched to it's nose
and the wind blows back to from where it blows
the big banging went on before the big birth
and nobody knows what any of it is worth
Creation, the word,
is used by the observer to point out the observed
It is noticed to be there at the stitching of the seams
But it doesn't really mean what you think it means
And the cat hacks hair balls all over the floor
Repulsed at first the crowd cries for more
Immune response to the infection viral
and the wheel of the real turns circles to spirals

Sure did but I didn't actually create it from nothing. I used some letters that were just lying around.

Thank you Dogma for your poetic effort. One good turn deserves another so the moggy is sharing with you lot his little poem summing up the impressions he got from his studies in modern cosmogony:
Dough rising into nothin'
Cosmos is a raisin muffin

No, not the cat, silly. It's NASA and Susskind who teach the universe is a muffin short of an oven. The moggy is just summarising his lessons learned from these sources.

The problem with the raisins in the dough is that they are all moving away from each other as the dough expands.
If the space between everything was expanding there would be no blue shifted items in the universe.
OPPS we are on a collision course with Andromeda.
Therefore space is not expanding as preached. The space between the Milky Way and Andromeda is decreasing not expanding.

Re: Creation
Hi Alfred,
AM writes:

The problem is they have no clue as to what existence is.
We know the Universe and Earth exist because we exist on Earth in the Universe.
That leaves only 2 alternatives.
Either the Universe has always existed in some form or the Universe had a beginning to exist.
The BBT requires the Universe have a beginning to exist. Thus it had to be created from non existence, which is an impossibility.
That is the reason it was accepted by religion when it was put forth.
These guys argue the BBT as if it has been amended by string theory (so called) which has not been accepted as a theory.
They do that because cavediver in his discussions skips to Hawking's nobounded universe which starts with an instanton.
Then they don't have sense enough to know that requires existence to exist prior to the BB. Because the BB requires the Universe to be about 13.7 billion years old.
So either they believe the Universe has always existed in some form!
Or they believe it had a beginning to exist.
If they believe it had a beginning to exist they ARE A CREATIONIST as they believe the Universe had a beginning to exist.

So explain.
I said all the raisins would move away from each other as the dough expands.
Do you disagree that the raisins will all move away from each other as the dough expands?
I said, if the space between everything was expanding there would be no blue shifted items in the universe.
Do you disagree that there would be no blue shifted items in the Universe if space was expanding at the same speed between everything in the universe?
I said, the space between the Milky Way and Andromeda is decreasing not expanding.
Do you disagree that the space between the Milky Way and Andromeda is not decreasing?
If you disagree with any of these please explain why you disagree.
God Bless,

Scale ICANT, you're not taking size into consideration. I know the distance between the Milky Way and Andromeda seems large to you, but it's not. They are very close together. As with all other galaxies that are close together, some are moving closer to each other and with eventually, but not in all case, unite.
Do you disagree that the space between the Milky Way and Andromeda is not decreasing?
No it has nothing to do with "the space between them." You are confusing what you have read here in the past. For as long as you've been here and discussed this subject, you would think you'd understand some of it by now.
The space between them is not getting smaller, that is ridiculous. They are physically moving toward one another as the space around them continues to expand. Expansion occurs at a very grand scale.

Re: Raisin Muffin
The treatment of the issue by the clowns is really amusing. What they do is to assume points of vague extensions. This enables them to treat anything as a point and in the present case even a supercluster of galaxies may easily be made into one. That is a raisin in the kooks' equations. Milky Way and Andromeda simply don't exist for the purposes of this particular mathemagical operation being less than an indivisible point.
A raisin turned into a point could be called a dust particle making up the fluid or whatever. Fluid is vague enough so serves very well the obfuscating purposes of the quacks. The distance between points is kept as vague, the actual borderline where gravity ends and the putative anti-gravity the clowns call the devil's energy begins its sphere of influence is equally left darkly undefined so the quacks can get away with any murder on large scales. A point is a very convenient device since having no theoretical dimensions, i.e., no length, it could be made at will into an unstretchable raisin surrounded by the elastic dough of nothing.

One day someone may figure out how to translate your strange yet wonderful language into English. I hope that it will turn out to be an epic poem demonstrating the transcendent power of love, and I fear that it may just be instructions for operating a washing-machine. I am, however, fairly certain that it will not relate to the science of physics.
