Hey, calling people idiots is a violation of the Forum Guidelines:

Moose, this latest suspension of Jar is just plain wrong.
You know I love you, Moose, so please take this as constructive. No apologies are necessary. You did what you did for the reasons you stated. But, in the grand tradition of all things human you erred. You were terribly wrong on this one. An immediate lifting of the ban and a rescission of the suspension message is in order.

Who's calling people idiots? Has someone lost his head? Who does he think he is? Einstein?
I recall that the last time there was a Moose/Jar incident, Onifre took it to the humour thread. Message 353 Maybe we should take the discussion there.

There is a lot I don't like about the nature of a lot of Jar's messages. But what has resulted in two suspension are "bare links without even having links" type messages. I, and probably most everyone else, needed to Google Jar's supplied phrase to find out what he is talking about. Not proper debate message content and it is a forum rule violation (rule 5). Poppycock.

What a teacher tells you and what YOU learn on your own are quite different. Those that did not know about the Canary Island threat and did take the effort to look it up will very likely retain the knowledge far longer than those who were simply instructed.
The Coffee House is a place for discussion, not debate. I personally find succinct preferable to verbose and brevity preferable to endless banter. It looks like I helped a Moose learn two new things, and honestly, teaching an old moose new things is something to really be proud of. So now I will attempt to teach an old Moose yet another new thing. Posts that do not contain links cannot be a violation of Rule 5 that prohibits bare links. Let me repeat this for the old Moose. A post that does not have any links in it cannot be said to have bare links. Next trite and without substance. I'm not quite sure how a blackout that effected much of the Northeast US and lots of Canada could be considered trite or without substance. Also, calling a potential tsunami that would effect all of the East coast of the US and Canada as well as parts of South America and Europe trite seems to me to be understating the issue. Finally, let me address the fact that the posts were short, one liners. In the first instance I was responding to a one line message, in the latter though I was responding to a multi-line post I will admit. Perhaps Mark Twain was wrong and I should use the word Metropolis even though I get paid the same for city. However both posts were on topic, pertinent, introduced information that at least one Moose did not know or did not recognize. Over the years I have had lot's of suspensions, a few that I even thought were deserved, but only once was I prouder of any suspensions than of these two. Fortunately or unfortunately, the number of suspensions still lags behind the number of POTMs, but I will try to build towards a balance. Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

But - You genuinely keep count......? No need to count yet. POTMs are a dime a dozen it seems. Hell I think I've even gotten POTMs for links to old posts that got POTMs. Edited by jar, : No reason given. Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Hell I think I've even gotten POTMs for links to old posts that got POTMs. i think this is my new debate strategy. i think my discussion with ICANT is starting to consist of approximately 95% links to (and quotes from) messages i've already posted in the thread.

The following question refers to the bolded part: So what is the difference between discussion and debate?
