The hypocrisy of portraying Medicare and Social Security as piglets is breath-taking, especially since deregulated corporate and investor greed destroyed the tax receipts that previously kept them solvent.Conservatism is predicated on the notion that it is just to let your neighbor drown if his rescue requires you to buy your share of the community rope.The greatest irony of this cartoon is the emaciated sow. Government is struggling to meet its obligations for two reasons: wealthy investors gambled and gamed the global economy into ruin, and taxes on the wealthy are at historic lows.Contracts (for Wall St. bonuses) are sacrosanct; contracts for teacher pensions are disposable.Talented people won't seek CEO jobs unless the pay is stratospheric, but good teachers will flock to poor pay and no pensions.Gay marriage will destroy the very institution; conservative governance in red states has resulted nationally in the highest levels of out-of-wedlock babies and divorce.I have always marveled at the self-contradictions of working class and middle class conservatism. Time after time, the wealthy have persuaded them to strangle themselves for their own good.Same as it ever was...Wake me up when there are people in the street with torches.Edited by Omnivorous, : No reason given.

Wisconsin polls say two-thirds want Walker to compromise on the issue of bargaining rights. Their attitude toward the absent Democratic senators is about an even split.16 state senators are facing recall petitions, 8 Democrats and 8 Republicans.We'll see how this plays out in Wisconsin elections sooner than 2012.

They don't ritually snarl and spit when they say Obama, or roll their eyes when they interview Democrats.It's the little things that give them away.
