"Ideal host would be Zack Galifinakis with a PhD in physics or engineering. Barring that, looking for an entertaining man or woman (20s or 30s, any ethnicity) , . . ."
IOW, Michio Kaku need not apply.

I really enjoy Brian Cox in the series "Wonders of the Solar System". He is definitely not the Galifinakis type, but he is easy on the ears and is able to explain complex physics without "talking down" to the audience. The British accent doesn't hurt either. I'm a bit biased in that regard since I grew up watching biology documentaries narrated by Sir David Attenborough.

I like Neal DeGrasse Tyson's PBS series best, though. He has a lot more personality than Cox and even, dare I say it, Sagan.
I can't stand Tyson, but that is my own opinion. He seems a bit too smarmy.
But that doesn't really matter. It sounds like this cable network is looking for a fresh face which is a really good idea. I would hope that they find a woman with an engaging personality and the education to back it up. The lack of women in the scientific fields has been shameful over the last 30 years. Science would be much better off if more women were attracted to the profession.

and my bastard best "friend" bought my Cox's new book for Christmas just so he could watch my face when I opened the wrapping paper...
That's hilarious. Maybe you can convince Hawking to run Cox over a few times.

But it's too late now. Look what the pair of bastards have been up to...
That's amazing!!
Let's just hope that Hawking didn't promise Cox the Lucasian Chair after one too many.
