He uses AD fully aware of its meaning.
You, on the other hand, inadvertently acknowledge Janus and Woden.
Unless, of course, you don't use the words January and Wednesday. Or March (aka Mars). Or any of the many other names that acknowledge ancient gods.

Some secularists and pagans try to deny the calendar's historical relevance to Jesus.
We secularists acknowledge and accept the pagan/xian origins of a lot of things.
There's a difference between acceptance and historical relevance, as you've just admitted.
