Happy New Year!
We never seem to acknowledge that we have been wrong in the past, and so might be wrong in the future. Instead, each generation writes off earlier errors as the result of bad thinking by less able minds-and then confidently embarks on fresh errors of its own. --Michael Crichton

........acknowledging the vicarious sacrificial death of the Son of the Biblical God, Jehovah for the redemption of all mankind of all nations, tribes and tongues who this night are acknowledging this event as the NEW YEAR! I think you'll find that most people who celebrate this alleged "vicarious sacrificial death" do so at Easter. The first of January is the feast of the Roman god Janus, from whom the month gets its name. Where do you get your information from?

Not only that but if we're celebrating the 2008th anniversary of his death wouldn't we have to wait another 30-ish years? Live every week like it's Shark Week! Just a monkey in a long line of kings. If "elitist" just means "not the dumbest motherfucker in the room", I'll be an elitist! *not an actual doctor

DJ writes: Not only that but if we're celebrating the 2008th anniversary of his death wouldn't we have to wait another 30-ish years? I stand corrected. The term AD means anno domini or year of our Lord whereas BC means before Christ. Both reference the birth of Jesus though the exact date is questionable. A common mistake is that AD refers to the death as I have done rather than the birth. My point that the entire world has essentially been acknowledging Jesus by the usage of it is factual, the last country to enact it being Portugal about 600 years ago. Not only that but it denotes Jesus as lord. It has been used by most nations for over a millenium. The messianic prophecies declare that messiah shall indeed become lord/master/ruler of all nations when he comes to earth to establish his kingdom at Jerusalem on the Temple Mount refered to as Zion. It's interesting that for all these centuries the nations of the world have been acknowledging this (i.e year of our lord) either advertently or inadvertently. BUZSAW B 4 U 2 C Y BUZ SAW. My point that the entire world has essentially been acknowledging Jesus by the usage of it is factual ... This is obviously untrue, isn't it, since the BC/AD numbering system is used as a convenience by people (such as myself) who "acknowledge" no such thing, just as I call the first month "January" without "acknowledging" Janus, and just as I refer to "Wednesday" without "acknowledging" Woden.

This catagorizes you as one of inadvertent ones who for one reason or another do not connect the acknowledgement relative to the common and universal usage of the term AD, i.e. year of our lord over the centuries.
