The best conclusion we can derive is that they probably believed the world was flat. Don't confuse yourself by requiring a 100% solution.

That's what people have been trying to tell you: the best theory (explanation).

I know it is a possible theory. However, certain people tend to act like they KNOW what they are talking about when really it is ALL theory. You can see the above when people post in their respective replies and such. Anyways.
