care to prove that statement instead of making unqualified statements? Of course. There are many such threads already here at EvC. The belief in a world-wide flood is simply ignorance, delusion or outright lying. I suggest one place to start learning is Message 1.
first of all, i doubt that anyone is convoluted enough to believe that minor floods would be recorded in the mythology of a civilization; it would have to be something drastic for the stories to be preserved 3000+ years. Then to say you would have me believe that there were a dozen major floods in different areas of the world than one world wide flood? which seems more likely? Other than the fact that we see such floods happening all the time? And it is not dozens of floods but many, many more. Further we can actually see the evidence of those floods, their extent and when they happened. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Hello, Siggy!
you would have me believe that there were a dozen major floods in different areas of the world than one world wide flood? which seems more likely? Let's see - in the last century alone we have the Mississippi flood of 1927, the Yangtze flood of 1931 that killed three million people, floods in Bangladesh in the 70's, the Missouri River flood in the 90's, New Orleans in 2005, Abilene, Texas last month.....and those are off the top of my head. A dozen is certain. No physical evidence supports The Big One. Sorry. Edited by Coragyps, : Yellow, not Yangtze

and yet none of such floods have ever been big enough to be mythological in proportion or even CLOSE to any of the flood stories of old.

I'm going to presume that this topic has a better purpose than to turn into another flood topic.

Yes, the "Great Flood" is part the history presented by the Bible, but it is something much covered elsewhere, in many specialized topics.
So, how about excluding the flood from further consideration in this topic? OK - Make that a command from "on high" -
THE FLOOD IS OFF-TOPIC IN THIS TOPIC! Any reply to this message MUST go to the "General discussion..." topic, link below. Siggy writes: ... someone did witness my birth; and they recorded it on an official document.... The point (for this thread) is that that document is of no value without other evidence to corroborate it. There's a lot of fake IDs around. That's why you have to provide three pieces of ID, photo ID, ID with your signature, etc. You need documents from different sources that agree with each other to authenticate who you are. Similarly, any documentary evidence in the Bible needs outside evidence to corroborate it. That's what this thread is about. Is there any history in the Bible that's been verified by evidence from outside the Bible? Your next post should consist of:

Brian,
Can you please provide some resources for your claim.

Ringo,
Thank you for you information. However, I am seeking information from the poster. He has made a claim and so I am asking him to show me resources. Thanks trossthree

In any case, he presented a challenge to those who think there is reliable history in the Bible. Ringo,
First I never said that Brian was obligated to show that the Bible is not a reliable history in contrast to any degree. However, when I post a topic I provide all evidences to support that claim. Brian on the other hand posted an argument with no resources to support his evidences. Last but not least I don't claim that the Bible is literal or that it contains a factual history in contrast to any degree. So, if it is true that Brian probably will not respond to my reply then that is fine by me. Thanks trossthree
