Buz, if these enzymes are ingested, how do they survive the digestion process, including the hydrochloric acid in the stomach? Pancreatic enzyme supplements are prescribed to patients who have had a large amount of their pancreas removed. I haven't a clue how they survive denaturing, maybe they don't.

Your link didn't address my question in the least, buz.
The words "denature" and "digest" did not appear in the article at all. I am aware of the basiv biology of enzymes, which is the whole reason I asked what I did. Enzymes are proteins, and all proteins are denatured by heat and acid. Think of milk curdling when vinegar is added. Once the enzymes are denatured they no longer work as enzymes, so how do you know that the ones you are ingesting aren't simply being digested and broken down into amino acids?
quote: Again, buz, even though the laws regarding nutritional supplements has been explained to you multimple times, you apparently still harbor serious misunderstandings. The FDA has no power whasoever to regulate bogus and worthless nutritional supplements. The only thing the FDA can do, is if a supplement has begun to actually show a pattern of injuring people, it can issue only a strong reccommendation that the product be removed from the market.

Unfortunately, I learned that my particular brand of complaint is potentially very rare and 'a highly exciting area of research' Reminds of when my parrot had psittacosis, and I contracted it, and got pneumonia from it. I felt like a pin cushion in the hospital. In three days I had well over 25 needles stuck in me. It seemed like every intern in the hospital wanted to do some kind of test on me.

I believe many such enzymes are taken in an enteric coating, which prevents the denaturation of the enzymes by protecting them in the stomach and subsequently dissolving outside of the stomach releasing the enzymes.
Admittedly Maximum living's claims that their pancreatic enzymes work with stomach acid gives me pause for thought although the fact that they contain cellulose and magnesium stearate would be consistent with enteric coating. TTFN, WK

...I learned that my particular brand of complaint is potentially very rare and 'a highly exciting area of research'... If its rare enough....they'll name it after you! Cross your fingers on that one. I mean, this is America. Everybody loves seeing lesbians go at it, as long as they are both hot and not in a monogamous, legally sanctioned relationship.

What you are saying makes sense, but not for the claimed use, if Buz is saying to use them insead of antacids.

If its rare enough....they'll name it after you! Cross your fingers on that one. I have a name that would be great for something like that. I was hoping a physical law or cycle or process. But a disease works too. Unfortunately there are still thousands of sufferers and it is just referred to as idiopathic. A lot of them are thought to be genetically related. The gene involved is often CFTR - the 'cystic fibrosis' gene discovered by Dr Francis Collins. Still, it would be more apt if the doctor involved got the name. At the moment, that could end up meaning it gets called 'Simpson's disease'. Though painful, my tongue is assuredly in my cheek! Edited by Modulous, : No reason given. Glad to see you are feeling better. Get well soon as I miss your kind way of dealing with my misbehavior. The topic here is my sickness and how you all spent the nights worrying yourselves sick over my well being - not my moderation style! better?

In that case Buz may be mixing up his pancreatic enzymes and his plant enzymes, many plant enzymes have a much broader spectrum of pH levels at which they are active and so can act in the stomach.

It does indeed appear these supportive enzymes are based on the plant enzymes that are more acid tolerant, etc...
----------------------------------------------- Our bodies need proper levels of active enzymes in order to conduct a variety of tasks, including digestion. While enzymes occur naturally in our bodies and in many plants, they can be destroyed by pesticides, pollution, some processes used to cook or irradiate foods, and chemical additives. Enzygen replenishes your enzyme supply to help your body break down fats, carbohydrates and proteins; convert foods to useful nutrients; and complete proper digestion. Formulated with only vegetable-derived enzymes, Enzygen stimulates the release of essential nutrients from food that are critical for cellular regeneration.* Best Outdoor Signs Orlando, FL | Custom Exterior Signs Near Me ------------------------------------------------------- Another cheap cure is simply drinking more water to energize the body functions(no chlorine flouride in water etc...). It would go hand in hand with maintaining ph but also help homeostasis of all your body functions. ------------------------------------------------------- My research revealed that unintentional dehydration produces stress, chronic pains and many degenerative diseases. Dry mouth is not the only sign of dehydration and waiting to get thirsty is wrong. Medicine has based its understanding that it is solid matter in the body that regulates all functions of the body. I have explained scientifically at the molecular level that it is water that regulates all functions of the body including functions of solid matter. 75 % of our bodies are composed of water. The brain is 85% water. It is water that energizes and activates the solid matter. If you don’t take enough water, some functions of the body will suffer. Its obvious from the symptoms you describe that you had an attack of acute Modulitis of the tumtum. The direct cause is still a mystery, but there is strong correlation with reading certain types of forum posts. The preferred treatment is to avoid all posts recommending quackery and alternative medicine. The 'Idiopathic' diagnosis results when the doctors caucus and decide: "We have to tell this idiot something or he won't want to pay the bill."
Its really a joy to see you back on your feet and in good spirits. You were missed. Regards, AnInGe

I felt like a pin cushion in the hospital. In three days I had well over 25 needles stuck in me. It seemed like every intern in the hospital wanted to do some kind of test on me. While in the Army I developed an ear infection which was treated with an antibiotic already pulled from the civilian market due to its inimicable side-effects on tendons and ligaments. After a two-day forced march, I complained of pain in my right leg. At the hospital, the senior doctor who diagnosed my torn Achilles tendon then taught the younger docs how to do it: this involved, among other things, poking my leg in multiple places and asking which poke was most painful. He had performed this excruciating quiz several times, and directed his juniors to repeat it. When the third resident approached, I pointed to the senior physician, and said, "Sir, ask that bastard--he knows where it hurts." I got chewed out for it. But they stopped poking my leg. (Note to Mod: During those sleepless nights of worry you referred to earlier, I thought of many stories I haven't told you. It was then I knew you couldn't die ) Drinking when we are not thirsty and making love at any time, madam, is all that distinguishes us from the other animals. -Pierre De Beaumarchais (1732-1799)

When the third resident approached, I pointed to the senior physician, and said, "Sir, ask that bastard--he knows where it hurts." When I got admitted to the hospital, the gave me antibiotics intravenously, and I start throwing up uncontrollably from it. So I started ringing for the nurse. They were taking there time coming, so I had to ring a few times. Then a voice came over the speaker and said "what is the problem?" I answered & threw up at the same time, and said "I'm throwing up". That sounds and looks horrible, when you do both at the same time. I kept throwing up until all I could taste was medicine in my mouth, then they gave me another shot to help me stop throwing up, it worked. Then the guy next to me was having dreams about his grandchild all night long, and kept shouting out: "Michael don't touch that, Michael stop doing that!" When he woke up, I was like who id Michael? What a fun night that was.
