Re: RR is an goodly baba
Why did you quote this:
quote:
"Well I might drop a hint, or a lead-in, and that might provoke a question. Or it might even provoke anger, especially if someone was hurt by the church. Then I would just try to explain that it was people who hurt them, not God, but then leave the subject alone."
And not this:
quote:
"I have expressed already, that more often than not, God tells me to just listen, and not talk. Am I exploiting people with my silence?"
Makes you seem like you have an agenda.

Re: RR is an goodly baba
Because he has quite openly stated that he uses the feeding of the needy as an opportunity to "tell his story" of how finding God helped him.
But I also stated that I use every opportunity that God allows me, to tell my story. It's the way I am. It's no different than me talking about what I went through as a teenager, or my r/c plane hobby.

Re: RR is an goodly baba
By definition, someone who cannot provide enough food for themselves every day is vulnerable.
They are insecure in the daily necessities to sustain life. They are in emotional survival mode.
So you described what they are vulnerable too, and that doesn't include turning to God, just because they are hungry. If anything these people can be angry at God, and would be the toughest to convince, if that's what I was doing, just trying to convince them that God exists.
All people are vulnerable.
Social pressure is being applied to these people to listen to a testimonial.
Possibly, but not if you ask if it's alright to talk about it first. What if I was talking about r/c planes?
He actively tries to create opportunities to share his story. He asks leading questions to try to get people to ask him about his story so he can tell them about god.
Well not exactly. You could also say that God puts me in these situations.
I also create opportunities to talk to people about r/c planes, is that exploitation also? I am not selling them anything.

It is different, though.
You telling destitute people about how god helped you in life is materially, fundamentally different from you telling them about your hobby.
Are you saying that your faith is a hobby?

Fine, rat.
You go ahead and keep doing what you want. Go convert as many starving people to your religion as you can, and keep using their needing food to survive to make them your captive audience. I seriously doubt you ever had any intentions of considering anything anybody else said here.
You have done nothing but rationalize your behavior.
I'm out.

Everything in life is part of my faith.
What I went through as a teenager can also be used in the same way as my story about God.
I have a small group that I run, that was started in the church. We fly and build planes together, and sometimes I mention about God to my friends or make a short prayer. Am I exploiting them through my hobby? Or do you not consider these people vulnerable?

Apparently you haven't understood me at all.
And I am not ignoring what anyone said. I already do those things as well. I am completely aware of how to present my story now, so that it is not exploitation at all. That IS important to me. Like I said, most of the time I just listen, that is the best thing I could do.
I'm out.
ding ding.
I made shraf quit a thread?
The winner! LOL
j/k

Your right, I shouldn't have said that. I should have said I am way more aware now, but still keeping my eyes ears and heart open.
You could be doing that in this thread.
There was plenty that I did not respond to, because I happened to agree with it. It's not like you can see me shaking my head yes or something. At least give me partial credit Ringo.
