Okay.
Is it just avatars that are not showing? Do you see the picture in the body of this message?

Now it's only Iano's avatar that doesn't show up. Yes, the picture in your post shows up, but most pictures I try to save off the internet don't. Most of the buttons aren't showing up, the Post New button, the General Reply button, the peek button and the email poster button.

Well, then I hope you or anybody here is good at exorcizing them.

By the way, a daemon (note the spelling) is a program that runs in the background to do work when called upon.

looks like all you have is a cache problem. If you can see some but not all images it is likely not a problem with your computer, but more likely just a cache issue. And as for the pictures you download, they are likely there , just not where you expect.

Well, OK, how do I solve a "cache problem?" Seems to me I've looked "everywhere" for some pictures, including some I thought should have transferred on the Zip disks to the new computer that I simply can't find. It was already annoying on the old computer that they pictures were in so many different places.

You can clear cache under the tools section of your browser.
Now to try to find the picture. Pick one picture that you remember the name of, and use search. Edited by jar, : No reason given. Edited by jar, : No reason given. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

as to the pictures on the zip disk being moved to the new computer:
if you happen to know the file name of any of these pictures, windows has a search feature. go to start (click it) check the right hand column of the start menu look at the bottom grouping of this column there is a command feature called "search" (has a magnifying glass as its icon) once you open up this program there will be a dialogue box in a separate, left hand column, asking what you want to search for. the first option (at the top) should be "pictures, music, or video" then enter the file name (picture name) into the search box if it finds the picture, it exists on your computer. if not . . . you will need to stick your zip disk into the drive for it (and you need to know the name this drive has, like the hard drive is drive C, floppy's are drive A, cd's are drive D, for example) you will then have to search using the advanced options tab (underneath the search box) one of these options is to search by drive choose your zip drive hopefully, the picture is still there. as to your caching problem, I haven't clue. sorry can't help you there. I had to borrow an external zip drive in order to load the disks into the new computer. I'll have to borrow it again to check whether or not something got left off the disks. There are definitely a number of pictures that are not available on the new computer that I thought would be transferred. Nothing I can do about that if they also aren't on the Zip disks, which I won't know until I borrow the Zip drive again. Unless my geek nephew can be tracked down and could possibly resurrect my old computer well enough to save some more stuff off it.

I'll take that to mean searching for the pics on your hardrive was a bust. that's a shame.
hope you can get them back with the zip drives. Want to help give back to the world community? Did you know that your computer can help? Join the newest TeamEvC Climate Modelling to help improve climate predictions for a better tomorrow.

Can't find anything referring to a cache in IE tools.

I think IE calls it Temporary Internet Files.
