As to 'attack or not' why don't we employ Bosnia standards? When Saddam (or anyone) starts killing innocent civilians, burning their houses and shooting little children, and other inhuman evils, I think it's a good reason to kick their gluteus maximus.
By that standard I propose that we declare war on Israel...

Nice solution. I think if there is no such thing as 'The Promised Land' all this bloodbath and massacre will not be necessary.
Maybe we should make that place uninhabitable (dump nuclear waste there? ) and throw everyone out. We're better off without that piece of land.

[just returned from an anti-war rally]
I also asked, why war?
The US has CIA and FBI, and those guys might be able to snuff out terrorists better than a large-scale attack. Indonesian authorities captured Bali bomb suspects one by one via intelligence operations, not by deploying armed troops. Can the CIA or FBI do better? I think they can.
If one is after a rat, why burn the whole house? Osama, for example, does not stick in just one country--he runs around. Military solutions are hopeless against this person. The real victims are the citizens whose lives are destroyed in the process.
Why war? Use special operatives instead. The US did this when they brought down Noriega.
Or, as many had suspected, it's not really Osama or Saddam they're after...
[been watching too many 007 movies]

quote:
Want to go after people that harbor terrorists? Sounds fine to me. Why don't we start with the Bush dynasty. Bush senior and Cheney (together or individually) helped establish Saddam Hussein, Noriega (for whom we had to invade a country to eliminate later), and Al-Queda (via the Taliban).
The Bushes are close personal friends of the BinLadens. On 9-11, while everyone else could not fly (planes were grounded), the BinLadens were allowed to fly around the country at will to pick up members of their family and leave the country. This allowed them to escape without interrogation by law enforcement officers (who are pretty pissed about this).
While many foreign nationals have been "detained" and their bank accounts frozen, the BinLadens escaped detainment and still have not had any of their accounts frozen. Neither have the Bushes who are in tight financial deals with the BinLadens. This has been allowed despite the well known fact that members of the BinLaden family continue to support Osama financially!!!!!!
Whoa! Holmes, where did you get this kind of info? Tell me the source, I'd like to use it to make some local pro-Osama kooks' ears turn red!

Hitler killing jews?
News come in that when Israeli soldiers bulldozed homes and killed several Palestinian civilians, their list of victims now include an American civilian! 23-year-old Rachel Corrie was ran over by an IDF bulldozer when she tried to stop them from destroying civilian homes.
News from here, here, and here.
These are her reasons.
Okay, Israel killed an innocent American civilian. Lets declare war on Israel!

alternative media
Right here in Indonesia the local TV channels are relaying CNN, ABC, Al Jazeera, and Al Arabiya. Altogether it made an interesting combination, and the people here are getting informnation from all sides.
Of course, we may sometimes have to endure Al Jazeera's vivid portrayal of war victims... but better than CNN's war-tech show.
I heard that Peter Arnett was recruited by TV Al Arabiya, a competitor of Al Jazeera in the MidEast.
