try this - run the experiment 1 million times
Chop down the tree and sit near and listen to the impact. Do this 999,999 times. Hear the impact and record the results.
Chop the tree down for the millionth time and run away, out of 'hearing distance'. You don't hear it? What has changed?
Only the method of reception. The 'sound' is generated the same way, the air vibrates, waves travel, the only difference is the reception.
With radio, a program with 1,000,000 listeners has the same output as a program with 1 or 0 listeners.
Seriously, what is the point of the question, other than provide fun for a half-semester for a philosophy class?

Excellent analysis. I was grasping for the difference between 'hearing' and 'sound'. Did not quite make it, hence my bobbins reply.
