First post here. Quite a simple question really.
Why does God need to be worshipped and why do people worship God?
Surely an all powerful and perfect being would not need us to worship them.
Isn't worship a man made concept created by egotistical rulers?
Perhaps you need to define worship.
In the Old Testament the worship that God commanded the Israelites to observe three time a year was to have a big enjoyable feast together. They ate the rich produce of the promised land and enjoyed a festive feast.
In the New Testament in John chapter 4 the worship God sought was to drink living water to quench one's thirst. Jesus told the woman at the well that living water would spring up within her unto eternal life - and this was to worship the Father in spirit and in reality.
So perhaps you have a stereo type of "worship" which is too limited and restrictive. It may serve your purpose to depict worship as ego gratification.
It does not do justice to all that the Bible portrays as worship which includes to feast and to quench a thirst within for life.
