So the New Testament has what value exactly?
Yes Christianity does have aspects such as baptism, marriage and holy communion but they should not be thought of as 'ordinaces'. They are not the main thing - the NT tells us not to focus on genealogies, ordinances and holy days. But if the NT is of little value to you then that will mean nothing.
I believe Moses and Elijah will make an appearance in Jerusalem some time at the end of the age but it's not going to make me check out any genealogies!
The Old Testament clearly points out that a new covenant will come which:
1. Will write ordinaces not on stone but 'our hearts'
2. Will draw the hearts of the fathers to the children and vice-versa
Although not one jot of the Old Testamnet is wiped away, the NT shows that it was a 'shadow' or 'profile' of the truth. LDS seems to be a step back into the old just as Peter had to wrestle with circumcision and was corrected by Paul. Not to mention the doing away with the NT in favour of the BoM.
But at the end of the day I believe God measures us by how we harkened to our consciences. If you truly beleive that LDS is for you then your conscince is the only thing I can recomend you too. I ask myself am I in this for myself or others and the Lord? Is this stuff mystical and intellecutal or is their true life in it?
