Post #: 37
Holems debunking Buzsaw's insistence on fulfilled prophecy which is actually a self-fulfilling prophecy.
{Which is what made the world in its bad shape today. Some people are desperate to get their prophecies fulfilled, lest they end up with egg in their faces.}
Consider the above bracketed material deleted as being not appropriate to the "Posts of the Month" forum. Perhaps the second part of the first sentence should also be "deleted". See comments down string. - Adminnemooseus

I thought this thread was for profound stuff rather than a debate thread.

Well you are allowed to say why you like the post, Buz. But it does appear Andy may have stepped over the line into bringing the debate into this thread too.

Not to invite admin wrath, but I find it ironic that buz comes here to argue about the nature of a post complimenting a post of mine, one (directed to him) for which he never produced a response.
Since Buz never did respond to a couple of my posts in that thread, why is andya unable to write his nomination as if I had proven my point? Most certainly that would be the appearance, since Buz knowingly gave up the field of battle without a fight.

Mr. Hambre's initial salvo in this thread is already a classic and has been nominated. But post 7 also deserves mention as an EvC classic. Hambre demonstrates the similarities between the fallacies promoted by Johnson and Johnson's lack of logic and critical thinking and demonstrates how Syamsu shares these traits. His comparison of IDists (and Syamsu) to children who consistently misjudge liquid volumes regardless of their starting information should be published....maybe Hambre can write a chapter in Al Franken's next book.."Phillip Johnson is a Big Fat Stupid Idiot"?

I agree with NosyNed. I will edit the offending message.
Shall we put it behind us?

A quite excellent come back to Apostles' missive about early human fossils and, in particular, his claims about Neanderthals being modern humans.

A discussion of some 19th century geologic study conclusions, that were a nice try at the time, but have turned out to be very wrong. Also discussed are some modern examples which don't have the excuse of being 100 years out of date.

I think all of Bill B's posts should have special mention. He makes factual, to the point and yet interesting posts. Even this geologically challenged mind can follow them and find them extremely interesting.

We've had some controversy in this thread, over bringing the debate into messages here, where it doesn't belong. An Andya nomination was the discussed item, but Mammuthus has one (more recently) that might also have gone too far.
In fact, quoting my non-admin mode -
quote:
Also discussed are some modern examples which don't have the excuse of being 100 years out of date.
- I, too, may be guilty.
Perhaps making any comment at all, is to bring the debate to this forum. All I can suggest, is try to keep your comments short and gentle.
Further discussion of this should go to the appropriate topic, link given below.
Cheers,

Are you referring to my (attempted) summary of Mr. Hambre's post or the Al Franken comment? Al Franken wrote a book called "Rush Limbaugh is a big fat stupid idiot" which while having an overly provocative title is presumabely more thoughtful like his most recent tome "Lying liars and the liars that tell them: a fair and balanced look at the right". I connected it with Mr. Hambre's post as he (like Franken) usually combines sharp wit and thoughtful criticism with humor in his posts. I should have perhaps made that more clear.
{I indeed was referring to message 36. Upon looking at it again, I think I was being too sensitive to Syamsu having been brought into the message. I now proclaim message 36 to be OK - But I still encourage all to try to be exceptionally nice to the other debaters, in the context of this particular forum. - Adminnemooseus}

mark24 cleverly managed to catch Syamsu agreeing with a statement he has steadfastly refused to accept about adapatation and variation by constraining Syamsu's ability to redefine every word he uses as he sees fit. Regardless of the debate with Syamsu, this is a classic EvC post.

This concise message is perhaps the best explanation I have ever seen, of the division between the "theory of abiogenesis" and the "theory of evolution".
