Humphrey's "solution" has the same exact problem as the "light in transit" idea -- God purposely, for no good reason, creates the universe with the appearance of age.

Of course, if you accept this, you must also consider the possibility that God created the universe exactly as it is, with all of our memories and such pregenerated, ten minutes ago.
