I don't care what anyone believes; it's what they do that matters.Christians lifted Trump on their shoulders and carried him into the White House. Without their devout support, he would have been just another blowhard racist, draft dodger, whoremonger, tax and business cheat, and rapist.Still they support him. Those who do not are all but silent.American Christians generally have turned their backs on democracy. Their numbers are dwindling, and their political and cultural sway wanes. This they cannot accept: those they cannot convert, they will compel. You cannot insist that human affairs must be ordered by your deity and also accept electoral defeat. The church gives its blessing to the king and cements his rule; in turn, the king grants cultural sway to the church. It has always been so -- until our republic's founders built a wall between.So now American Christians generally (read overwhelmingly) say in polls that preserving their values may require violence and that's okay with them.They insist they're being persecuted, when they are simply being resisted.I said nothing about kids finding wisdom on the streets. Shouldn't that happen at home and in school? Certainly they won't find it in a hateful congregation.Also, I'm not an atheist. I merely detest corrupted organized religions.
