Was he coherent before? This just seems horribly muddled thinking.

It's always been a complex issue, trying to deprogram someone who has been brainwashed by a cult.

I had to cut all contact with 4 cousins and their families back when the tea party movement began during the Obama presidency, because they became threatening and wouldn't stop sending me really offensive propaganda. My sister had to cut them off after Trump started campaigning. I can only imagine how nuts they are now.

I think we are completely and truly screwed because 75 million or so have joined the trump cult and most or all of them are armed!

Re: Which reply "discussed" the assertions?
They will be very likely to see all-too-many of their critics as - quite simply - not part of any useful informative discussion.

That describes how I see almost everything you write, as - quite simply - not part of any useful informative discussion, primarily because I cannot decipher most of what you write into coherent thoughts.

I don't understand why you are on a false-flag rant in this particular thread. I didn't understand Percy as asking for help translating what his relative says, but rather for any way to communicate with him in a rational manner.

I can't tell from what you have written whether you think the January 6, 2021 insurrection, was some sort of false flag event or not.

Please just answer this question, do you think it was a false flag event or not? I am not interested in hearing about or discussing any other false flag incidents from the past.

Re: Which reply "discussed" the assertions?
Having undercover agents is a 100% prerequisite for any sort of false flag operation.

OK, never mind. I thought a false flag event was when one group of perpetrators pretends to be the opposing group of rioters to throw suspicion on the group they are pretending to be. Like a couple thousand blacks pretending to be white supremists.

So you think this is some kind of significant evidence that trump and his corrupt GOP puppets in Congress didn't incite and support the fucking insurrection?

So I can see from your reaction that the answer is YES! you think this is some kind of significant evidence that trump and his corrupt GOP puppets in Congress didn't incite and support the fucking insurrection.

Re: LamarckNewAge
He has left the building of reason & objective evidence and all he does now is regurgitate bizarre fantasies of what has happened since - oh, i dunno - the Dark Days of Joe McCarthy in the world of US politics. We keep checking the bottoms of our shoes to see if we stepped in it.

Yeah, I do feel bad about Mark Zuckerberg though, he's been locked in his bathroom sobbing for months now.

Re: The main conspiracy theory is the "Inside Job" accusation against the GOP & Trump.
again, the "fringe theory" is one of the those things Percy was ripping (without any detail, however) in his OP.

Can you point out where Percy said anything about fringe theory anywhere in his OP?

Several years ago I had the strangest conversation of my life with a nephew. I had stopped overnight at my sister's while on a road trip and he also stopped over and was flying on the next morning.

I'm pretty sure my nephew suffers from something like schizophrenia. There have been odd behavioral signs since he was in high school.

Normally, my sister and her husband have an absolute no politics rule in their house (he used to be republican and she is a democrat), but they had gone to bed. I don't know how we got started, but it was a Gish Gallop of conspiracies, including holocaust denial, 9-11, homophobia and on and on... Every time I asked about evidence it was the trigger for the next outrageous claim.

He's brilliant on computers and works as a sub-contractor with NSA. Both NSA and CIA tried to recruit him while he was still in college, but he went to work for a sub-contractor and was able to pay off his student loans the first year. After a couple years he started his own consulting business and seems to be doing well. He has some kind of high level clearance and does not ever discuss who he works for or what he actually does. He is absolutely paranoid about his digital footprint and does not do any social media and sets up temporary accounts that he changes often for all the applications he uses.

Anyway, our conversation was me being completely incredulous and him being a paranoid nut job until it was time for bed, then we hugged and he told me he loved me (like a switch was flipped) and he had already flown out the next morning when I got up. My sister and her husband never talked about it and I was so confused that I didn't know how to bring it up. I have picked up hints since then from his sisters and my sister that they avoid anything that triggers his paranoid rants and family life seems relatively normal.

What seems to be working is the understanding that contact will be severed if he continues with the crazy behavior. He and I have never mentioned it again.

Maybe, you can make a similar rule, if your relative wants to have a relationship, he has to stop, his choice.

Re: Proof That SARS-CoV-2 Was Produced in a Lab
The whole March 2022 issue of Scientific American is devoted to Covid and how it changed the world. I'm working my way through that, lots of accurate information, including conspiracy theories about it's origin.
