Bernie Sanders has been gaining a lot of traction in the polls. There are a lot of attributes that I find both very appealing and very admirable about Bernie Sanders. But there are many others that simply kill it. Here are two examples of his proposed reforms:
"Free" college for everyone: I really wish people would stop using the term "free" for taxable items. It's incredibly misleading and it's simply a terrible idea. Without "free" college, there is already an oversaturated market of college grads that is diluting the pool. College education, particularly Masters and Doctorates, is supposed to be a lot like precious metals in that what drives their value is their utility in tandem with their rarity. Oversaturating the market with college grads just means there are even less relevant jobs to go around than there already are.
90% Robin Hood Tax
Sanders wants to tax the rich at a laughable 90% which would absolutely crush innovation and production. Sanders views economic success as inherent greed. What he doesn't understand is that companies like Apple could not operate by fleecing the top brass at 90%. You might as well say that your goal is to attack the health of the economy, because there's no businessman who would stand for anyone stealing 90% of anything, let alone their earnings. 50% would have been radical enough, but 90% is like saying, "Hi, my name is Bernie Sanders and I am completely unelectable."

Re: reality check
Look up the tax code rates under Eisenhower. The US economy was in top form with lots of innovation and production. This is a republican propaganda for cutting taxes for the rich.
Eisenhower's tax rates are where Sanders gets his ideas about his proposals, although he has not committed on firm numbers as of yet. He has, however, stated his admiration for taxing the wealth at 90% as if anyone would stand there and get ass raped at 90%.
I mean, honestly, how stupid does someone have to be to think this American would remain a U.S. citizen after being robbed by the government? They would simply leave to some tax haven country, thus taking money that could be going into the US economy away to some foreign country.
Look no further than the two models in America as evidence. Businesses are fleeing places like California and New York and setting up shop in much more business friendly climates like Texas and Georgia. No one is just going to sit there and be extorted. So who here honestly thinks ANYONE would willingly allow to be taxed that?
It used to be that education was for you to improve yourself and learn to take an intelligent approach to life, not as a route to a job. This concept has been lost in the hype to get jobs so you can work 8 or 9 hours a day doing tasks for someone else.
If that were true, then no one would be admitted into college, rather they would just sit in on classes to soak up the knowledge. But as we all know, people go to college because it's a stepping stone and essentially training for potential jobs. That may be far less honorable in your mind, but it's nevertheless the reality.

Where did you get this? I have not heard an exact figure and thought he was looking more at around 50% for the portion of income in the top bracket.
Sanders has not committed on firm tax bracket numbers, rather he has stated admiration and, something to the affect of, "If I had my way, I'd tax the rich at 90%." But I doubt he would ever be that audacious in reality, because the rich would just leave to go live in more forgiving markets.

You need to learn the difference between marginal tax rates and effective tax rates. That and basic economics.
I do know the difference and even supposing you modeled the Capital Gains tax after the Progressive Tax we use for income, you'd still be nowhere near the absurdity of 90%.
What happens when we have a high marginal tax rate? High tax rates do not stifle corporate growth. They stimulate it. How you ask? Instead of paying CEO's 10's or 100's of millions, corporations reinvest it in the workers and capital projects.
So you're saying the government won't tax a CEO that reinvests the money in the company but would tax him if he kept the earnings for himself? If so, that's not even remotely true since corporations are taxed as if they are people.
The purpose of government is not to allow and justify that some people make unlimited income. Corporate America was much more stable and the middle class much stronger with higher tax rates.
Stronger government, perhaps, since government can only exist from the capital the private economy can produce.
You are spouting right wing propaganda that the modern robber barons are feeding you.
Then by contrast are you spouting left wing propaganda from the modern socialists and communists?
