Re: Increasingly Plutocratic Tendencies
The answer of how to distribute the profits from wealth creation is somewhere in between, not 100% to the owners, not 100% to the workers.
It's negotiating the somewhere in between that is the issue.
Each company is different, so the percentage settled on is different. If the company is an all-employee owned company, like Avis rental cars or SAIC, then this issue is less of an issue, I suppose.

Supermarket #1Supermarket #2

Supermarket Price per pound$.50$2.00
Pounds Sold22
Total Wholesale Cost$1.00$1.00
Total Amount Received$1.00$4.00
Profit (created value)$0.00$3.00
Well, I will be a repeat customer at Store #1 and avoid Store #2.
What kind of value do you assign to that? Customer loyalty?
Maybe Store #1 is doing a loss-leader run on potatoes and the customers will come back again & again.

Re: The Value of Air in Trade
Percy writes:
Actual value in this sense plays no role in anything I'm saying, and I don't view actual value as a useful concept, or at least I can't think of a context where I would find it useful.
And the fact that this is a widely-held problem is, indeed, a great tragedy for homo sapiens sapiens.....
Actual value might be the most important thing of all, but so many appear to be ignoring it.

Percy responds to my Message 273:
You sound like a creationist declaring that science is wrong because it rules out God.
No. I am arguing that the science is incomplete. I am not saying it is wrong per se. It's like you only have made observations down to 40 feet below sea level and declare to know the ocean. Your observations are so far adequately supported within their context.
Did you ever notice that "economics" does not end in "ology"?

Re: Price And Value
CS says:
I'd rather create some wealth for myself.
YIKES!!!! Shame on you for NOT rather wanting to create wealth for everybody.
I've invested some of my money into a company that I believe is going to take off and am doing my part in creating wealth for myself.
Well, bully for you, then.
