Re: Character
I was thinking about the fact that we used to have sodomy laws in this country, skimmed through the Wikipedia article on the subject and realize I've been overlooking how seriously it used to be regarded as a crime...
We used to have slavery laws in this country, too. With death penalties for runaways. With a fine for wilful killing of a slave, just like in the Bible. I think doing away with those laws is what has pissed your God off, not gay sex.

Re: Character
Quotation is sufficient to realize that the society had gotten so rotten that it would have been unrighteous for God not to intervene.
So an omnipotent creator of all things was forced by his own creation to "intervene" where "intervening" is strictly defined as "slaughtering by rainfall."
Really, Jaywill, can you not see what Larni is saying? Can you not even read your own Holy Book for the words that are written there?!

"Evolution deems that it is to my survival that I exploit and oppress you."
And you've been around this board for seven years now, jaywill? How is it possible that you have learned so little about evolution, even if only by osmosis from nearby topics?

Re: King James Bible
THE church.
ROFL.
That's hilarious, Faith.
Edited by Coragyps, : No reason given.

Re: rule of war??? or not?
Or better yet, what rules would you come up with that make better instructions to these armies if you believe in rules of war?
Well, obviously, you go by the rules elsewhere in the Bible which call on you to exterminate the men, women, boy children, girl children, babies, cows, goats, sheep, and goldfish! Now that's some real rules of war! Deuteronomy 13:15, for one of many examples.

Re: rule of war??? or not?
Years ago I was told that babies were brought by storks. Being told something does not make it true - hell, even reading something on the internet doesn't do that!

Re: All powerful but can't lie ?
I guess God being all powerful does not mean He will do what is against His nature to do just to prove that He is powerful enough to do so.
Proving that there is no twisting of logic to which True Believers (TM) will not resort in their apologetics. And I once thought that Irina Kazakova was an expert........
